Star Trek Beyond - Part 4

On the surface, it's hard to imagine how Quentin Tarantino's directorial style as evidenced in his previous films would really gel with the Star Trek we've become accustomed to since 2009. But in saying that, he's a strong writer and he has directed other stuff such as CSi and ER. Could be an interesting move for sure.

Pardon my ignorance on this QT possible film, is it following the re-launch 3 (to date) since 2009, with the cast as per JJ & Lin or are they at an end and this is a new-new iteration.

Presumably it will be with the existing cast minus Anton Yelchin but nothing has been confirmed.

^ I laughed hard that they found a shot to stand-in for QT standard trunk shot.

my suspecion is this replaces the idea of hemsworth return idea.and from what they have unearthed good chance of Tarantino wants to do time travel film.who
knows maybe he can finally find idea to bring william shatner back for one last go around.

with Tarantino as big fan you could see film even closer to trek to oldtime fans like me than beyond was.

Bleeping out the word Vulcan to make it seem like Scotty was dropping an F-bomb was pretty great.

I'm still hoping this is a Mirror Universe thing. I feel like that's really the only way I can see QT's involvement making sense.

The dude's a huge fan of TNG and he is working with someone else to write it. It's possible even he knows he maybe isn't the best person to write it but might have an idea for a story and he can certainly direct.

I don't know. I'm not super enthusiastic about but something has him intrigued.

In the past, QT described in detail his dream Star Trek project which involved expanding upon the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" and exploring the Enterprise C.

I mean there is a chance Bad Robot and Paramount say no and move in a different direction.

There goes wanting a full scale Federation/Klingon war on the big screen. Then again, with STB and any and all takes on STIV, they didn't know what we wanted (which was that) nor did they care to do the right thing (which was to do that instead of what they wanted).

I'm going to assume the focus, financially speaking, on the current show played a part in this.

I'm just hoping something comes of all that Tarantino stuff, which I'd consider a minor miracle.

What a shame. They had such a great cast and they blew it.

I hope that someday somebody puts a new Star Trek series on regular TV so everybody can see it without having to pay extra, with a good cast and characters and just tell the same sort of straightforward adventure/exploration stories that the original series did, without any huge dark gritty undertone that takes all the fun out of it.

The actors (in my view) are being so greedy and putting themselves first ahead of the film series.

Hardly surprising really, considering the budget cuts, cast demands, and the fact that the films weren't anything groundbreaking. I was really hoping to see that Federation - Klingon war though, cause the new Klingons, and their D7 ships looked perfect for what I'd want.

Blaming Star Wars is just lazy though, the fault lays with Paramount.

I may be wrong here, but aren't the shows and the reboot universe under different properties or studios or something? That's why they're set in different universes, and why the show (Discovery) isn't using themes from the Kelvin timeline?

Does this mean the Tarantino ST is dead too? Because that's the only one I care about. The Kirk time travel team up was a stupid idea so good riddance to that I say.

Paramount is second only to Fox in it's ability to torpedo a successful franchise.
