Not against the idea. I think it shows they are trying at least, despite Beyond disappointing at the box office.

Let's be honest, the time travel Kirk meets Kirk story was sort of silly to begin with. IMHO, it wasn't important for this Kirk's journey that he goes back in time to meet his father. Hemsworth's Kirk wasn't that important of a character, and Kirk's father was never all that important in Trek lore.

That was such an odd announcement to make before Beyond came out. Guess what everyone? We already have our story lined up for Star Trek 4! It's going to be Pine Kirk meets Hemsworth Kirk! Just seemed sort of random.

This is a great cast, so it would be a shame if that was the last movie they got to do.

They could always get Jon Favreau to direct one of the movies.

And if Seth McFarlane could keep his usual brand of humour to a minimum, he wouldn't be a bad writer for it either. There have been some episodes of the Orville which have been very low on McFarlane humour like the one about the doctor and her children stranded on that planet with Isaac, which was almost exactly like a Next Gen episode.

This is a great cast, so it would be a shame if that was the last movie they got to do.

I was just thinking about that last night, too. I like long tenures from my Trek crews, so it would be disappointing to end it so (relatively) soon.

But this was certainly unexpected. I hope it shapes up.

Knowing QT, I feel like his fondness for the franchise would stem from the original series, rather than what it became in later incarnations, so for me, that's pretty exciting.

Hopefully this isn't akin to his Casino Royale idea where he tries to recreate something than do something new. I want a fresh Tarantino ST film idea.

Tarantino is a fan of the orignal series. He's not just going to go crazy with it and do stuff we're not used to seeing in Star Trek. I'm confident he will honour that aspect.

If by honoring what ST is, that means I'd like to see an actual ST like plot through and through, and not an action film that takes the ST name. Beyond was the closest it got and one of the reasons why it's arguably the best one.

Give me an interesting ethical quandary over a stupid revenge story with pandering.

I don't know if it comes to fruition with Tarantino's ego and all. He's obviously willing to work with Abrams (and the main cast he set), but I don't know if Paramount will let him do whatever he wants.

It should be interesting, but I don't see it happening right after his Manson film.

Tarantino has had a reputation for taking outta his behind for projects he swears are coming... and then don't. Five immediately come to mind.

But this is from the trades (Deadline). Thus added weight to its legitimacy. It's also the kind of move that generates genuine "I GOTTA SEE THIS!" reactions from the same general audience who stayed away from Star Trek Beyond (who, contrary to popular belief, liked Into Darkness).

So crazy, so out there... yeah I see this happening. Minus him directing because, come on. Of course not.

He doesn't need to direct, just use his story and execute that. The idea would be strong enough where that would lose focus from the different writers. And when Tarantino pitches you a story, you do not ****ing deviate from that story. Why would any writer not? A Tarantino Star Trek story? That's the dream right there that nobody would pass up to write.
