Star Trek Sequel - Part 1

Ironman 2 suffered from the lack of an interesting villain more than anything. Let's hope Abrams and co. don't make the same mistake.

I know that Iron Man doesn't have the best rogue gallery or even in the top five, but they could've had other villains more compelling than Whiplash (such as Mandarin), and they chose not to. Even Justin Hammer was watered down in the movie, but anyway I think the failure of IM2 was the lack of a solid script and Marvel rushing the movie out before it was ready. I hope IM3 won't make the same mistake.

As for the sequel, I already said that I felt Abrams dropped the ball by not making it as quickly as he could have, and spent too much time doing other projects like Super 8. If he didn't want the time to do it, he could've hand the rein to someone else; it's not like he's the only person who can do it and do it right.

As for the 3D, I would rather Star Trek was filmed in 3D rather than a post-conversion. The 3D effects in the latter never look as good as something shot in native 3D.

That said, I will almost certainly watch it in 3D at the cinema, then maybe again in 2D if it is any good.

I wonder what a 3D lens flare looks like...

I want stills, dammit. :o

Well we know 100 percent that Bruce Greenwood Is back. But,I think they could end
the Villain Speculation now.

You guys want stills while the film literally just started filming.

We ain't getting anything till the very least, Spring.

Hey people have been *****ing about them not getting moving on this film for months. All I'm asking for is a goddamn still. :o

I bet Uhura dumps Spock for Kirk in this one. haha anyone wanna take bets on that...yes?

aye, i don't see why they are waiting to reveal that info, the only people who will know who the hell the villan is, are trekkies, and they will be going to see it anyway, no-one else cares who the villan is. I guess they just wanna have fun with it.

I want to see Zoe Saldana have sex in this one...as cliche as that sounds.

If the Star Trek sequel is good, then who cares how long he took to get around to making it? Nothing wrong with waiting for something good.

I actually think they had a good basis for villains with Whiplash and Hammer. It's with those two characters that I feel like the script comes up short. The general plot of the movie I had no problem with. I liked the idea of the reactor slowly killing him.

I tend to agree, only I reaally enjoyed Super 8. That makes is tough for me to really be mad about it.

I didn't realize that we were entitled to get as speedy a sequel as possible. :o

Glad they are finally moving on this, dont understand the complaints about the amount of time it has taken them to get started, how many sequels in the last decade have fallen short because they were rushed? Plenty, at least they are taking their time on this one to get it right, though it will be hard, I am more than happy to wait if it means getting a better movie out of it.

4 years between films seems a bit long to me. Especially as the crew are all still supposed to be just out of the academy. I mean, John Cho is going to be almost 40 by the time this comes out...

If Cumberbatch is in this, I'll have no choice but to see it. He is skyrocketing up my list of favorite actors.

Any word on who he's playing?
