Star Trek Sequel - Part 1

Probably true, but knowing Abrams. The delay won't be announced until 2016... :rimshot:

Seriously though, the film is being released about mid May 2013 and not only have we not had a teaser trailer or any official pictures, but they can't/won't give us a title or let us know who Cumberpatch is playing.

Poor show. And in all honesty, it is not making me eager to bother seeing this at the cinema.

Easy man. It's nine months away. You and I will be there anyway because we loved the first film and because this is a sequel to that.

We should get something in the next few months. Honestly summer blockbusters don't need to start the hype until the holidays anyway.

We got a short teaser in Jan. of '08 and not a first real one until November. I'd say we could get one with the next Bond film.

I was entertained by the 2009 movie, but it was not a great film by any means as far as I was concerned. I'm an old school Trekkie.

That being said, yeah, I will most likely go see the next one at the cinema :)
But that is mainly because I am curious how this will look in 3D.

@ Doctor Jones
Do you not agree that it is pretty weird that we are only nine months from release and as of yet there is still no announcement of the title of the movie.

Have we seen trailers for anything else coming out in the summer of 2013????

There's been a teaser for Man of Steel, I think, and at least one official teaser poster.

It's not that weird. I mean it's just a title. I wouldn't even be surprised if it just stayed Star Trek 2. But it really shouldn't have any barring on the promotion of the film as of right now.

Putting a title out right now doesn't really matter. As long as they do by the first trailer then that's all that really matters.

So i dont understand the flipping out when no other summer movie has shown a trailer...other than Mos

Me neither. A teaser like MOS was only to say, "hey, new Superman film." Nothing more. Same with TDKR's teaser last year. The GA isn't really gonna give a **** until a few months closer when they see more footage in theaters or on tv.

Honestly, I think we as fans who really pay more attention to this generalize our thinking into what the rest of the world thinks.

Agreed. Marketing a year in advance is often a waste of money and this is a sequel. I'll worry if we don't see a trailer 2 months before the film comes out.

I'm not particularly bothered about the all the secrecy, it is JJ Abrams after all. But I do find it a bit odd that they have not yet released a title and a teaser poster for the film.
I do think it is unusual for a film which is only 9 months from release for the makers/studio to not have put these two things out by now. Especially as it will have been 4 years since the previous movie by release time.

The GA will have pretty much forgotten about 2009's Star Trek by now.

Pretty much. But the first was well received by everyone, so I doubt it's completely forgotten.

Spielberg's Lincoln is coming out in November and we just got a poster for it

This.

Damnit. I got all excited thinking there was news, and all I found was a "this".

You bastard. :csad:

I don't expect a poster/trailer until the Holidays. Or late fall.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Cumberbatch was playing Gary Mitchell...

If Cumberbatch is playing Gary Mitchell that's kind of disappointing since he's got a face made for playing aliens.

Again, Gary Mitchell already died in the ongoing alternate reality Trek comic series, which is considered to be canon

this is the third time today I've seen a link to that site...hmm.
