The Force Awakens Star Wars VII Director? - Part 1

Luc Besson
Hey, a good pick. No, a really good pick.

To all you people out there who want a director with a smaller resume, what about Brad Silberling? He's good at capturing the fairy tale feel, and he's also have a portion of humour added to it.
In comparison with Gabor Csupo, Silberling is lighter. Csupo is more fantasy/drama.
PJ Hogan? He's a combination of these two, I guess.

I would like Luc Besson from this 'Fifth Element' days not his current schlocky stuff.

'Fifth Element' mode Luc Besson would own it. Man, every morning the first thing I do is check for director news. I'm getting antsy.

That would be a good, solid choice for it. Vaughn's a guy I feel would knock it out the park.

Really, Vaughn is not a bad choice..he tends to inject some humor and personality into his characters which is strongly needed. I can't say he's my top choice..but I'm cool with it.

Looks like it really could be Matthew Vaughn directing STAR WARS: EPISODE VII!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Ol Frosty at Collider.com told us this... all the way back at the beginning of all these rumors. In fact, this has been RUMOR #1. Well, the folks at @DIYTV in London were doing the "green carpet" interviews for 7 PSYCHOPATHS. They talked with Sam Rockwell & Martin McDonagh, producer Graham Broadbent... they took photos of the doggies on the green carpet... and then they let slip this tweet:

We chatted to the lovely Jason Flemyng who pretty much let slip that Matthew Vaughn will be on Star Wars IV duties oops!#Jameson7Psychos

Now before you start freaking out that Disney is hiring Matthew Vaughn to direct a remake of STAR WARS... Don't because they also tweeted this follow up:

We mentioned earlier about Matthew Vaughn's involvement in Star Wars IV When we of course meant Star Wars VII. We'll blame the cold.

Alright - so here we are with a tweet from a Green Carpet event - with an actor... mind you, an actor that has had an incredibly close and long working relationship and friendship with Matthew Vaughn. NOW - keep your eyes on their Twitter account to see if they actually disclose what Flemyng said that "pretty much let slip" that Vaughn is strong with the force.

Well... Personally, I still think that's a great choice, but what I'm curious about is this. We know that Disney has hired Kasdan & Kinberg to write Episode VIII and IX. Will they hire different directors for each episode or would they lock in a Director to helm all 3. I love these rumors - how about you?

From COLLIDER:
Jason Flemyng Comments on Matthew Vaughn Possibly Directing STAR WARS EPISODE VII

Same here.

I mean, I'm still gonna be excited for it because he won't do a horrible job, but still.

There's going to be weird reactions to who is picked, no matter who it is.

Vaughn's a good choice though, if this resurrected rumor is true.

I just saw the video of Jason Flemying they're referring to. Fellas... he didn't say a thing. Besides Vaughn being interested and he didn't even bring it up. The guys off camera did and he simply went along. Nothing more. People are reading waaaaaaaay too much into this:

I really do think Vaughn has a great balance of focus on characters, visuals, storytelling, and humor. I think a Vaughn Star Wars could be a very good thing.

Kick Ass R rated Mathew Vaughn, hell yeah!

X-Men "Mutant and Proud" Mathew Vaughn :retch:

Now granted I don't think Vaughn was all of First Class's problems. He certainly wasnt imo. But im not sure Vaughn working with one hand tied by Disney is the Vaughn I want.

Wasn't aware there were that many problems with First Class...

Its just my opinion of the film and what Vaughn delivered. Its a complicated opinion. Im not even sure I could put it into words really. I wasnt disappointed but I wasnt wowed either. Fassbender and McAvoy were golden. The rest left me somewhat cold or cringing. This coming from someone who is only familiar with the xmen through the films. Ive never read the comics and wasnt spoiled going in so I had no preconceived notions or astronomical expectations for the film. Purely as a film on its own merits it was average.

Wow, AICN really don't have much credibility at all these days do they?

I hope this pans out. Vaughn's got visual flair, he's good with performances and story too. Plus the possibility of Nicolas Cage as a Sith lord and Hugh Jackman cameoing in Mos Eisley would skyrocket.

I'd definitely be cool with Vaughn. He has yet to make a movie I don't like.

Cage as a Sith Lord!? Dont even get my hopes up!

You know I'd like to see Vaughn tackle Batman. He did a great job on kick ass. They were ordinary people doing superhero **** in an unorthodox way. Batman seems like the perfect sandbox for him.

Absolutely, the garage scene with Big Daddy cleaning house was exactly what I want to see in a Batman flick.

Not exactly. Non lethal incapacitation of course.

That's the scene that put the idea in my mind and it ballooned from there. Now it is one of my dream films. Too bad he has already done a Marvel comic film. Not sure DC/WB would want him.
