I noticed not on there list Sam Raimi, Bryan Singer, Gore Verbinski, Martin Campbell or Robert Rodriguez.
some names I figured be on if Deltoro and Christopher Nolan was.

John Cartes was underrated, and its director wouldn't be a bad idea for Star Wars

I know nothing about "who will be the best fitted ) but it needs a director on the qualiber of Irvin Kershner ( he did the best Ep of the whole trilogy ).

^look what he did before that film tho not exactly projects that were in fantasy space opera genre lol

^^
lol what ? I look at what he did on Ep 4 and he did the best of all the movies.
He knew his trade, that was my point.

my point is look at what he did before and you never would of guessed he was capable

did anyone based off frightners think peter jackson could of pulled off lord of the rings?

thats why we should think outside the box instead of know fantasy/sci fi guys

I am not an expert on this field.
What I know about Kershener was that he was a good maker, he knew the job ( director ).
You need someone like that in my opinion.

About Jackson, no I would not have guessed because he didn't have the same solid background as director as Kershner but he was passionated about LotR.

Opinions on Dave Filoni?
I think he could do a nice job, i'm not against him. At this point i dont even care who it is, i just hope whoever ends up directing does a good job lol.

That could be very possible. He's the only guys who hasn't really said no. I mean he was working on Magic Kingdom for Disney... surely that wouldn't go without some discussion.

Bad choice. His only experience is an animated series and the theatrical pilot for that series which wasn't that great.

I think it's a disservice to Filoni to throw him in this type of movie right off the bat considering his lack of feature experience.

The theatrical Clone Wars movie was 4 episodes cobbled together in the 11th hour. It was not initially intended to be a movie. He was caught behind the eight ball once that decision was made.

Favs seems like a good guy and I love the first Iron Man but his other efforts are pretty poor IMO and I don't really dig him for Star Wars.

yeah disagree big time Gianakin Knightly is extremely talented and by far the most underrated atcress in her age range

Keira easily out acted carey mulligan in never let me go and you people here foam at the mouth of her talents

Underrated? I'm a minority.

I don't dig Favreau, but I have a feeling it'll be him.

I think Jon is very resourceful and intuitive to the fans when he puts his mind to it. I forgave him for Iron Man 2 but Cowboys and Aliens was pushing my tolerance.

That being said, he's a safe choice. I can see him making a SW on par with A New Hope: A swashbuckling epic with colorful characters. However, I don't know if he has it in him to make an 'Empire' quality film that's layered and dense. We'll see.

But for Episode 7 I think it should be a lighter adventure, like ANH, with each sequel introducing more complexities. It'll serve as a nice reintroduction to the franchise.

My problem with him is that Iron Man looks like it may have been a one-off, 'cause all of his other stuff is mediocre at best, imo. I don't know.

That was my theory too that its possible that Jon caught lightening in a bottle with Iron Man and became a fun film by accident.

I do think people don't give him enough credit for Downey's casting because Marvel was initially against it and Jon pushed for it. But it seems like his innovations stopped with Iron Man 1. His follow-up films were just tedious and dull.

Not to say Marvel isn't important but I know that Star Wars is important to Jon and to many fans out there. If he got the job, I hope he can bring the creative spark he had with Iron Man 1.

Pretty much. And I'd rather we didn't get a director who is saved by the script.

Yeah. Thats probably true and the weakness of Jon.

Out of Jon Favs and Gore V., both in whom have uneven filmographies with a few gems, I'd pick Gore because he has a certain edge to him. IE Rango.

But with Gore, his weakness is his nasty habit of going overboard with the budgets. He's a $$$ liability..
