He won't write the script and he fleshed out the TL script as much as was humanly possible, I think.

Kosinski is still an unproven commodity though. Tron Legacy wasn't that successful and it's his only film. It's not like he has a hit or even a good movie under his belt personally. I thought Tron Legacy was okay though.

If he somehow ends up with it though, I think it says how much faith Disney has in Oblivion.

What you're saying does make sense from the studio's POV. Personally I was blown away by the visuals of the movie. I admit he needs to work on getting better performances out of actors, though.

TRUTH BE TOLD, I don't know how Kosinski's relationship with Disney is like now especially when they dropped Oblivion from their slate.

Not as of now. Disney dropped Oblivion and its at Universal now. Last I checked, Deadline says it is set for April 12, 2013 in IMAX, but that seems so close at this point and we haven't really seen anything out of the project.

Seems crazy that we are talking about a $165 million sci-fi picture and we've seen literally NOTHING about it as of soon to be December of this year. And it's due out in less than six months.

Vile,

You do have a point, though I HOPE there will be something by The Hobbit.

I say Favreau gets announced either just before Christmas, or just after New Years.

Iron Man 2 was a great film...the ONLY problem I had with it was the pacing.

As for Cowboys and Aliens...really the only issue I had was it felt a bit rushed towards the end with throwing the Indians in there seemingly out of nowhere.

Huh. I guess mine and others' hunch has a chance of being true.

recently seen source code

give this project to duncan jones he would deliver a smart sci fi film

Jones would be awesome and it's weird how he doesn't get mentioned more often.

I still don't understand that Tweet. My first reaction was that Favs just liked that custom figure (which is cool looking.) Is it a cryptic hint that the figure is close to the designs he has in mind for the film (if he's director?)

Yes, it's a bit confusing. My guess is that the fan in him is talking. What I find more interesting is his profile picture. There have been several occasions when people hint at things with their profile picture.

It's hard to tell because some of his hints are so obvious. Also two of his films are in limbo which makes him a prime candidate for the job.

The other fan-fav directors who are completely free and are not actively working (that includes post-production) are:
Rian Johnson, Duncan Jones (His Fleming bio-pic has been quiet unless I'm jumping the gun here.), and Sam Mendes.

I think Jones feels more hard sci-fi. I'd put him up for a Prometheus sequel actually.

As for Favs, if that shot in Cowboys & Aliens of the cowboys riding up against the on coming alien ships can be recreated with taun-tauns and TIE fighters, I'll personally pay his directors salary.

I'm currently worth less than $1,000AUD.
