Suicide Squad box office prediction - Part 2

I thought that was obvious?

Indeed that was obvious but making 20 million in OW is not what I thought would happen and I think that's also what Kathemy is probably referring to as well but good for them anyway, the genre will benefit with good reviewed and money spinning movies. :woot:

I must say this has been a really solid year for horror/thrillers. Green Room, Lights Out, Don't Breathe, The Conjuring 2, Blair Witch.

Agreed. It has been a very good year for horror movies.

Yeah I know but...Deadpool is still going to end up being more successful and profitable than SS. Thats why I don't understand why Liefield even cares.

The problem wasnt about him caring. The problem was with him acting like a child, making baseless accusations and deflamatory comments as he started to lose the argument, and then straight up lying/denying.I am baffled by his behaviour.I dont know why he suddenly started behaving like this considering Hughes tremendously praised Deadpool.

I'm baffled why Liefield after all these years still cant draw feet (or anything else).

For all the vitriol it's getting, the DCEU is consistently having more viewers and visitors than MCU subs. I know a lot of you guys absolutely hate the DCEU and simply adore the MCU, so why aren't you guys discussing your favorite movies instead of hating on the ones you don't like. The logic in this forum....

No.1 These forums are for all opinions - not just the love.

No.2 For as good as the MCU has been, it still doesn't have the online forum participation of DC comic fans. It's always been that way.

I think with the overcrowded CBM and big budget blockbuster landscape (year round now, not just summer), Horror thrillers provides something different and can probably be seen as a breath of fresh air from all the heavy CGI action adventures.

Maybe Trump took over his twitter :funny:

I always see many DC comics fans visiting and posting in Spider-Man forums.

"Suicide Squad which made$1.67M yesterday saw its three week cume climb to $270.8M. This weekend, the David Ayer film is expected to bring in an estimated $10M-$11M, and if it does wind up slashing Don’t Breathe, it will be the first title this year to hold the No. 1 spot for four weekends in a row. Currently, Suicide Squad is outpacing August’s previous comic book hit Guardians of the Galaxy (final B.O. $333M) by 16%."

I'm glad SS did well at the BO. I liked it much better than MoS (which I didn't like much) and more than BvS (which I thought was pretty good....but kind of messy). That being said, in no way, shape or form will it outdraw GotG. That movie was getting consistently 40, 30, 20% drops for months (even a 0% drop and then a 33% INCREASE over a holiday weekend). SS had a 1st weekend drop of over 2/3 and over 50% the second weekend. That's not horrible when you consider how well it opened, but doesn't scream "great legs" either.

Anything in the 300M DOM and mid 300s OS ranges are very good numbers for what I thought was an entertaining movie.

Nice seeing you outside the political threads InCali, lol. Somehow I can't fathom you guys venturing into the other parts of the forum, despite this being a CBM forum :oldrazz:

LOL. Are you kidding? You should check out my CB (I've just gotten around to posting some of my Marvel comics and not DC yet) and Tolkien collections (See the links below).

Political junkies need to chill out too. I'm a YUGE CBM fan and my hands are pretty big too. :woot: I can't wait until DS, Thor, BP, WW, and CM come out. The good Doctor is right around the corner.

I also design and build Home Theaters. There's a link for my own HT on the main page.

Some arguments from Mark Millar's tweets:
- MOS and BvS lost money
- SS budget is 250M (before reshoot)
- SS needs 750M to break even

Robert Liefeld: questioning Huges's credibility and integrity (by implying that Huges made up numbers), then asked why he escalated everything to make it personal.

Liefeld is 48 and Millar is 46 (and he got an MBE from the Queen!!) and I thought only 20-something kids on SHH behave like that.

I know, it's a bloody disgrace.

Oh and by the way, if SS were to ever make close to $750m expect that number to rise.

- Weekday numbers are kinda disappointing it only made 8.3 million from mon-thur
- GOTG on same time frame made 11.5 million mon-thur
- Suicide Squad last 2 days were under 2 million - on days 20/21
- GOTG didn't get a below 2 million day till day 25

Sarcasm?

Did you really expect SS to match GotG legs?

People need to stop comparing one DC film to another Matvel film. It's quite frankly ridiculous, films are measured as a succes on their own not against something else. Quite frankly I'm fed up of this whole DC vs Marvel ****.

Quoted for truth.

I think additionally to that, the people who are acting like they are box office professionals and act like they know whether something is a hit or not are laughable.

Barinholtz also said that the Suicide Squad budget was north of $250 million!

http://batman-news.com/2015/12/09/ike-barinholtz-suicide-squad-howard-stern/

If that was brought up already, I apologize for missing it - but it would make sense to me given the amount of re-shoots and having multiple editors putting out different versions of the film.

Combined with marketing - this film just got hella pricey. EDIT: I can't listen to the interview at work. Does Ike say the $250million is production/marketing combined?

"If" you are talking about me, I only brought it up because someone mentioned it was ahead of GotG. I wasn't trying to denigrate SS at all. It has done well at the box office and I found it to be entertaining (as did my wife). I agree that people should NOT expect it to do as well as GotG at the box office and was only interested in pointing that out as a comparison had already been made between the 2 movies.

The comparison was natural and bound to happen. SS was being marketed similarly and doesn't feature standard superheros, much like GoTG on both accounts.

It was not actually, it was aimed at the post below yours by Logan someone. Apologies if I have caused any offence as I honestly hadn't even read your comment when I put that.

The post you are referring to is correct because at this very point SS is ahead of GOTG in terms of it's domestic gross which was mentioned in that article @BaelaTargaryen posted. There is nothing wrong with that comment at all. Eventually GOTG will be way ahead due to the fact that it had insnae legs at the BO but at the moment SS is outpacing GOTG and that was the point that post was making.
