So I'll probably have to wait until 2019 to watch a good Superhero film starring a woman. That is truly depressing. I want Wonder Woman to be good but WB will find a way to crap it up.

I hope not but... I fear you're right. And... I mean... it does say something when Marvel lands an acting powerhouse and an Oscar winner for their female-led superhero film and DC lands... Gal Gadot. I'm not trying to knock Gadot but I honestly can't say for sure whether she's a good actress or not. I think she might be, but... I'm basing that mostly off of the Wonder Woman trailer. She wasn't in BvS or the F&F movies enough for me to really form much of an opinion.

SPIDEY is having some kind of existential crisis here

they should absolutely look into getting those people into the fold. And sadly no, its probably not an option. WB has always been under the notion that comic book people don't have a place in the movie division, which I can understand to an extent, but when the talent you hire doesn't deliver, perhaps its time to start thinking outside of the box.
They literally have the dude with the most comic book experience working in their division right now. It's unlikely that they would turn down Dini and Timm based solely on the fact that they are comic writers. I don't know man, I can't even deal with it right now.

Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life.

I'm going into the movie with an open mind despite it all. its a DC movie that looks like a ton of fun, that in itself has my ass planted in a seat.

I am not a big fan of David Ayer especially when he goes around saying "**** Marvel" or "DC owns everything"

But he knows how to handle the situation. I admire him for that.

So what's the biggest critical issue with this film? Too dark, bad editing, bad pacing, not fun enough or what?

Did the characters get ****ed up worse than we expected?

Do you think keeping Alan Horn would have made a difference?

No. They need new blood. But actual business people not yes men. Honestly I think their biggest mistake was letting Legendary go. Thomas Tull could have done Johns' role so much better

"Oh we're a filmmaker-driven studio. A filmmaker-driven studio dedicated to making filmmaker-driven films. Until the previous film underperforms. Then we step in."

WB has done nothing but react since 2013. They can't get out from behind the eight ball.

Ugh, dissapointed to see the bad reviews. Not because I believe them, but because half the people I know (offline) read them before they see the movie, and their judgement is already affected, so I know these people just jump straight on the bandwagon.

I loved Man of Steel, it has been the only Superman film I have ever enjoyed, I was never interested in his character before it. I loved Batman V Superman, it got me so excited for the DCEU.

I know I will enjoy Suicide Squad, I will pay no attention to the negative reviews :) as Im sure many have also said in this thread.

Would anyone agree that Kevin Tsujihara and Diane Nelson are also problems for the DCEU?

Or have Diane Nelson's wings already been clipped?

It's not that I think Diane Nelson is a bad person. It's just that I remember her coming on board with DC Entertainment projects I think back in 2009. And just based on what I read about her, it seemed like she wasn't the guy to help shepherd these DC projects simply because she helped out with the Harry Potter franchise. DC comics and superheroes were a whole different bag?

Looks like Diane being phased out for Geoff Johns. Kevin T is gone, along with Greg Silverman by the end of the year no matter what.

So if food critics told you a specific burger joint that looked good onInstagram was not good but you went anyway and got a bad burger with bad service, you would order a second burger just to damn the man?

LMAO!

That's seriously a great analogy. I don't care if every review on TripAdvisor says this hotel has bed bugs... I'M STAYING THERE ANYWAY BECAUSE F*** CRITICS!

Why do directors say "I made it for the fans" when the movie is getting dragged

Gonna be really interested in how this film performs at the box office.

I'd still like that Dark Universe film, but if this underperforms we can probably kiss any hope of that one goodbye.

LOL, well I'm glad I've never made those kinds of bets with my friends because I'd lose too, haha. Yeah, I do hope that WB eventually rights the ship. I think that they CAN do it and there's still hope but... it's going to be quite an uphill battle after another critically panned film. :(

One thing The Vile One mentioned that I think is a good point is the color palettes of these films. A darker palette does seem to fit something like Suicide Squad but I agree that it doesn't fit a Batman/Superman movie (even one where they fight) and it also doesn't fit Justice League. It just makes everything look so drab and somewhat depressing. But... Wonder Woman doesn't really look like that (at least not in the Themyscira scenes) so maybe that's a sign of better days ahead? I hope so.

Yeah be glad. That's why my friends chose that as my punishment for losing cause they knew that shirt would mess with my emotions. My friends suck lol I personally love the darker pallete for our movies. It's sets a tone For DC just like our graphic novels. Not to mention I think it makes it look cinematically beautiful. I don't want to see our DC films completely 360 for phase 2 after Justice that would make me mad

The Hyperbole Brigade from the BVS boards is out in full force. This place will be toxic to anyone who is still optimistic about the film.

I am trying to be optimistic. I have already paid for it and will try to focus on the good aspects of it at the cinema. I am my own critic and will decide whether it is good or not.

its a sympathy tactic, but in this case I feel like ayer is being genuine. Him and the cast really bonded I think.

Unfortunately we aren't going to be feeling any DCEU changes till post Justice League. Wonder Woman's already wrapped.

Yeah. They should say, "I made it for fans who have no standards" or something. :woot:

that must be me because i love MOS and BvS

i recognize that they are flawed but i enjoy the hell out of them anyways
