It's interesting when you look at the Rotten Tomatoes scores and compare critics and audience scores for the DCEU and the MCU. The Audience score lines up perfectly with the critics score when it comes to the MCU, the biggest difference is 4%. Then you take a look at the DCEU movies and you get huge gaps!! 20% difference for MOS (55 vs 75) and almost 40% difference for BVS (27 vs 65). I'm starting to believe critics hold DC to a stricter/higher standard than Marvel. The Audience scores are more accurate than the critics scores for the DCEU imo.

I wonder how the Squad's audience score will turn out.

Here's the thing, Marvel's key is their characters. Marvel's films (and tv) have charming characters that are hard to not like. Even Daredevil, which is Marvel's darkest, grittiest foray (amd imo their best live action attempt, like, ever) has a very charming, loveable characters that you just wanna root for. Even the freaking Punisher. So, even whwen Marvel makes a lackluster film, people let it slide becaus they just enjoy being with the characters so much.

I love DC's films so far but I can SEE what people dont like about them. They are less charming, more complex creatures. Its harder to get intl their heada and root for them and I see how thats a provlem for a lot of people even thougb for me it isnt.

SS is most likely from that same ilk. If people arent falling in love with this rag tag team of misfits then the movie is gonna have a rough go at winning people over.

Fair point. I think the critics were genuinely surprised just how dark some of these characters are. Especially based on the lighthearted marketing. It caught them off guard. Some have stated it just was too hard to root for them. Even if they were great in their roles.

DC needs to start making sharper films as well. Eliminate the complaint of pacing and editing.

Interesting that reportedly(although unconfirmed I guess) Ayer's "vision won"- yet a lot of reviews point to the editing as being a problem. I almost think its a possibility that an extended cut may arrive on Blu-ray that wasn't initially planned, especially considering how more well received the UC of BVS was- and how high the Blu-ray sales of it are.

There's talk about alternative cut for a couple of days already because a person (DanielRPK I think) who allegedly watched both earlier cut and final cut.
He said the cut changed, pacing is worse and Joker scenes were cut with more Will Smith.
So far critics shared similar sentiments with him.
If the alternative cut exist, I can see that WB will sell it as an edition of home release.

DC right now is like the NBA after Michael Jordan retired. Those next few years were rough. But people made it seem like it was worse than what it is because it was missing Jordan.

Honestly I wouldn't at all be surprised if WB even asked Ayer to go back and re-cut it for the Blu-Ray release

Agree 100%, but now you'll be accused of being a baby for pointing out a horrid discrepancy on RT. Another reason why RT means nothing, and SS will continue to plow its way to ~$700M. It will get good word of mouth.

I wonder if this will do anything to Geoff Johns. I mean I doubt WB/DC will do anything but he is suppose to help these films flourish but all the ones he has been part of have done the opposite.

Johns came in after SS was pretty much done, so I doubt any of the blame (or credit) can be legitly attributed to him from this.

I don't hate DC. In fact I wish DC was on the same page as Marvel. if things turn around for the better for next year...maybe...but I’m not going to hold a candle on hope right now.

Idk but as of this weekend when i saw Star Trek and Lights Out I determined that never again will I let RT decide what movies I see- and those are just the most recent examples.

BvS made that amount on the bases of a massive opening weekend. It had terrible word of mouth that killed an easy billion dollar grosser.

It's really weird that two movies in a row seems to have editing issues.
If home release cut is better ala BvS UC then braced ourselves about 'DC means Director's Cut' comments or something along with that.

Well....I have been going to the movies for over 50 years....I have never used RT....I have always chosen which movie to go to by deciding which one sounds interesting....and then going to see it.
