Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

Not surprised by this. Melissa is near 32 and soon a mom. She can't portray 'Supergirl' forever.

Putting Martian Manhunter on the Superman and Lois show seems like a good fit though. If it were up to me, I'd bring him in during season one to introduce him to the show's new audiences, instead of just assuming that they watched Supergirl.

Yes, not a surprise. Although I'm not a huge fan of the show I have liked the crossovers and I've enjoyed her portrayal. I wish her the best of luck for the future. (On a sidenote, I hope this bodes well for a big-screen Supergirl (with a teen Kara this time around)

Yeah, you could easily have J'onn or even someone else like Jimmy- assuming we ever see Mechad Brooks again- appear on Superman and Lois no problem.

No surprise about Supergirl being cancelled in the 6th season, which some of us predicted while others predicted 7th season. I agree that she can't play Supergirl forever now that she's in her 30's. I wish they did a Supergirl spinoff show Midvale with the actresses who played young Kara and Alex.

Also Supergirl needs to crossover with Superman and Stargirl before her show ends.

I can see both Martian Manhunter and Legion of Superheroes moving over to Superman and Lois.

Not surprised. I hope Melissa will come back for guest spots on Superman & Lois. Her Kara has been one of my favorite TV superhero portrayals.

Agreed.

I do wonder what this means for Earth-Prime's Justice League. We already lost Kate Kane.

Did some of you guys download the pilot when it leaked back in the day? I know I did lol. Honestly I’m pretty sad but things end and it’s been a great run.

Remember when S1 gave us this?

I was so excited when it was first announced Red Tornado would appear and then they gave us a guy who looked like he was wearing a carpet lol.

Rather than a crossover, the Stargirl series could get its own teen version of Supergirl. Not that they'd have to wait for the Supergirl series to end, but it might simplify the marketing and licensing to wait for that.

Kara and Courtney were the same age (not counting suspended animation) in Justice League Unlimited, and they had a friendship and rivalry that worked well. Have Melissa play Kara Zor-L's mother in flashbacks, and avoid the whole issue of the mature Power Girl costume by having Kara keep the classic Supergirl look during her early hero years.

There’s the young Kara from Midvale.

I'm quite happy that there's no Supergirl/Stargirl crossover. Stargirl doesn't need the other CW heroes to stand out. That show does just fine all on it's own.

As has been stated already, kinda' ironic(?) in that the CW has set you their small screen justice league and we've already lost two of the founding members. I suppose they can always bring Kara (and Melissa) back for certain crossovers, but otherwise they're going to need to reinvent their JL.

As for characters, the only two I could really see crossing over (full time) are John & Brainy; John to Superman and Brainy to Legends. I'm not not seeing a purpose for the other characters at this point.

I also wonder how they're going to wrap the show up too. Have Kara lose her powers? Have Kara decide to settle full time on Argo? Or just leave it as her sticking around to fight another day except we wouldn't see it...

I think introducing a new Kara, even if its on a different Earth.....

Even as a supporting character, and with the comics' history? Jay Garrick got a good reception on Barry Allen's show, and the two versions of Superman in the Crisis crossover didn't harm the actors' reputations.

I think having the show ending with her fighting the good fight is fine. She doesnt need to retire and we spent 5 years with Superman saving the world off screen.

I'm saying in terms of Melissa. To replace her on TheCW, even if its a guest spot so quickly wouldn't seem right. It'd be one thing if it were on DCU/HBO Max.

It'd be funny if we ended up going full circle with Clark having text message conversations with an off screen Kara.

Im fine with it ending. I like it but dont like alot of the direction it has taken

I'm sad to hear it is ending. These seasons have gone quickly and it's already at season 6. It only feels like yesterday when it began. I remember seeing the threads when it was first announced that Melissa would be playing.

But I guess she can't play Supergirl forever. There is the younger Kara though from Midvale who did a good job of seeming like a younger version of Melissa. Maybe we should've had a teen Kara in the first place instead of one her 20s.

I hope she can still guest star and that she won't be killed off.

I hope Carpet Tornado shows up again to fight Superman and he makes short work of him. Maybe Superman will wonder how Tornado can look so ridiculous.

Also, since we haven't seen Mechad Brooks since before Crisis, now would be a good time to get a new one in Superman who doesn't dwarf Hoechlin in size.

Supergirl has had a good run.

Melissa has brought the character to heights that it had never been before and has set the bar high for the next young actress to take on the Supergirl role in tv or film.

I'll be interested to see what comes next for Melissa in terms of future roles.

She's a great actress with tons of personality and charm, and I have no doubt she'll be headlining another show in the future.

She's gonna be around for a while.

How long do y'all think Flash got? I'm sensing season 8.

Is season 7 the last on their contracts (for Flash)? It would be a big blow to CW if they lose both Supergirl and Flash in the same year.
