Well depending on what they're exactly doing it's likely the musical episodes of the Flash and Supergirl will be 2 Episodes I will be giving a miss.

Why? I mean, heck might as well watch them, what else are you going to do....if you don't like them you don't like them.

I'm not on the musical bandwagon, but I'll watch them anyway...and if I like them, GREAT...if not, well I'm doubtful I'll go blind or deaf from watching them. ;)

Sharon Leal is Miss Martian. :atp:

Can't stand musicals on film, I can happily sit through a stage show but musical films I find them hard to sit through so I will more than likely not watch them.

Also Kevin Smith on his YouTube channel said the episode he is directing will be called [BLACKOUT]Supergirl Lives... How apt is that given he wrote the script for Superman Lives. I wonder what the storyline will be[/BLACKOUT]

What's wrong with that? I thought you liked her.

Taylor Swift? no....not a big fan. I'm more a Pink fan..... :)

I respect the fact that she is a "singer, song writer" that takes talent, and definitely worth respect.....I'm just not a huge fan. Too much drama...

Did you watch the XENA musical episode?

Oh ok. Maybe that was Comic Chick then? One of the female mods/admins was a fan I thought.

Count me in the lot that was not calling for a musical episode. For me, I see this as filler. Many shows have filler episodes. As I see it, they will save on the FX budget here. Maybe they can save some of that money for the 4 night mega-crossover.

I don't think it's a filler episode given that it's a two-part crossover and it's planned so far in advance. I think it's more like a fun two-part episode they wanted to do to showcase their musical talents. I really don't see Melissa or Grant or some of the others just thinking of it as mere filler but would probably really throw themselves into it.

Also, it could very well be a bigger budget than normal with more rehearsals than usual. So definitely not a filler IMO.

Buffy wasn't as serious as these DC shows are.

Have you even watched Buffy?

Saying that Supergirl and The Flash are darker than Buffy is, quite frankly, laughable.

I know loads of people who will turn off from both these shows if they have musical episodes.

How sad for them (and you).

While I appreciate the fan service. You risk alienating the portion of the fans that were against the notion of a musical. I will keep a positive attitude for this crossover. I know for sure Grant and Melissa will have a blast doing it.

I'm guessing Danielle Panabaker won't be singing since it's already established that Caitlin can't sing.

It would be a shame if John Barrowman doesn't get to take part though.

Woo hoo!

All my dreams are coming true. I can't believe that we're actually getting two musical cross-over episodes with the Flash and Supergirl. I really, really, really hope that Music Meister is the villain and that they can convince Neil Patrick Harris to take the role.

It's great to see two of my favourite current shows following in the footsteps of some of my other favourite shows, notably Xena: Warrior Princess and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (although in the case of the former, I hope the upcoming musicals have more in common with the excellent The Bitter Suite than they do the rather terrible Lyre, Lyre Hearts on Fire).

Also, Miss Martian! Mon-El! I'm more excited about Miss Martian than I am Mon-El, but it will be interesting to see how they deal with the Legion of Superheroes on Supergirl. If written well, it will be great to see Supergirl mentoring Miss Martian about both being "human" and being a "superhero".

Really? Both Xena: Warrior Princess and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer used their musical episodes as anything but "filler" episodes. Both were critically important to ongoing character development. There is no reason why the same couldn't be true for this episode. Even the "Brave and the Bold" animated musical episode used the Music Meister for character development, so I don't see why the same won't be true for the Flash and Supergirl.

And while it may save on the FX budget, purchasing the rights to use the music, the extra time spent filming, the extra time spent in the recording studio, etc will probably mean that the budgets for the musical episodes are higher than a regular episode. It's not something that is done cheaply just to fill a season's episode quota - it's an endeavour of love and hard work by all those involved.

Yes and the musical episode occurred during the darkest season of the series.

True...the last 3 seasons were extremely dark. Which is why I stopped watching, it just progressively got darker after about the 3rd season....first 3 seasons were awesome.

I just found out that Sharon Leal is 44 as she looks remarkably young.

Taylor has more drama than Pink? I thought she was the Country girl next door. Demi Lovato is my Lady of choice in the music scene right now!

Personally, I'm quite interested in seeing the musical episodes. If done right, they can be a lot of fun.

Never used the word darker at all go back and read. The DC shows are definitely portrtyed as more serious than Buffy IMO.

There you go again with that condescending attitude. Honestly your the worst poster on here, know it all whose got more wrong than right and can't handle other people's opinions.

I don't like musicals and I think it's daft to turn a superhero drama into one. So sue me, I won't be the first or last person to dislike something they're doing on the show. End of the day I have an opinion and I have a right to voice it. You should respect that and not tell people they're wrong or sad for having a ****ing opinion about something.

So Legends of Tomorrow is only currently scheduled for 13 episodes. Will their season end with the 4 way crossover(Supergirl's last stop) I wonder?

It will probably get a back order but even if it doesn't, I would expect the crossover to be around episodes 8-9 like normal.

Musical crossover? It worked for shows like Batman Brave and the Bold, not sure about here. Could be a sign they are running out of ideas. I think the 20-22 episodes per season that these shows have is a bit much. They should trim the fat to avoid multiple fillers, villain of the week and possible musical episodes.

Or it's a sign that they want to get a little playful with the shows. I think it's awesome news! There is a lot of talent there to pull it off, and it's been done well before, especially with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Xena. Those were pivotal episodes on both shows and really pushed the series, and story-arcs in new directions. I'd love to see how they pull it off and what reason is used - if any.

As for ideas, they have decades upon decades of comic villains and take-over the world plots to exploit as well as their own ideas. I don't think the idea-well will be running dry any day soon!

Also great news about Miss Martian. Though I would have loved to have Batgirl brought on the show, or Bat Woman if they had room for another super!

That's alright though. And I would think that they have an older actress for MM more as a match for David Harewood. Martian to Martian if you know what I mean...

Buffy wasn't as serious as these DC shows are.

Not darker, but less serious. Buffy was as serious, and even more so in many ways, as any of the DC shows. In fact it was that seriousness that made the show less likable for me near the end.
