Description via KryptonSite:

LYNDA CARTER RETURNS AS PRESIDENT MARSDIN; KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS – A large bounty is put out on Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and aliens from far and near attack National City intent on taking out the woman of steel. Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) run into Maggie’s ex-girlfriend, Emily (guest star Hayley Sales), who is in town for a week. Hank (David Harewood) gets an interesting order from President Marsdin (guest star Lynda Carter). Kevin Smith directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#217). Original airdate 3/27/2017.

What if you get an order from a superior - the President herself?

I'm betting on Mon-El's parents to put a bounty on Supergirl. I doubt it's Cadmus putting a bounty as Lillian hates Supergirl and the aliens.

This could have been a perfect opportunity to bring in Lobo.

I want Supergirl to take on the aliens by herself. I don't want to see anybody getting in her way like Guardian or Alex or anyone else.

Seeing that Alex took on most of Cadmus by herself, I don't think Cadmus should be in this episode.

I kind of wonder whether the Daxamite royals are getting the money to place such a bounty. Their planet kind of got ravaged, after all.

The first logical answer to pop to my mind? "Space Piracy".

( Oh, and this plot once again calls into question why more Kryptonians didn't survive, but you know. Known gaping plot hole. )

Maybe some did..... :yay: We have a 3rd season remember...

I see the title could be a play on words, esp with Kevin Sorbo's character of Mon-El's father who to Mon-El has been a distant "son." Then again there is a bounty on Kara...and dollars to donuts it's the Daxamites putting it out there.

And yes meta it could be another swiss cheese plot, but methinks this one is SO BIG, you could drive the cliched Mack truck through it.

Supergirl.TV has offered up some BTS pics of episode 17 coming up. And, uh just in case you thought Melissa Benoist has lost her ability to eat the good things in life like that all-American favorite the PB&J...think again.

See the pink on the plastic wrap? It must be jelly!

"If you are thinking about about taking my Peanut Butter and Jelly (made perhaps with my cousin's peanut butter from the 1980's)...FORGET IT!"

--OR--

"Popeye has spinach...I HAVE PB&J!"

You're welcome!

And the other thing missing...Melissa hanging out with the kids. That has been resolved.

While that's true, and I certainly wouldn't *mind* if the Kryptonian Survivor Colony of Kandor or somesuch appeared, it wouldn't really fix things. It'd just continue to beg the question of "So why the hell did the El's use solo pods to get their kids off planet, rather than just loading up on any of the bigger space ships that should by all right exist?" There's not really any way to fix this setting problem, not after having already established Krypton as cosmopolitan. Its just something you have to pretend not to notice.

Which, I'd be mostly fine doing. . . if the writers didn't keep insisting on putting it at the forefront of their plot arcs. . .

And again, that plot hole may very well begin to fill next season. However, for now....in the description of what happened....

Krypton EXPLODED, and the pieces of it destroyed the moon that they both shared, THAT DESTRUCTION is what we saw in Mon-El's flashbacks, his planet did not explode, it simply is no longer inhabitable because of the destruction of their shared moon, whereas Krypton EXPLODED as we have seen in every intro.

NOW, could many have gotten off before its explosion? sure.... we know 2 did... :) but that doesn't mean they need to show up just yet, and again could show up in Season 3, as in her mother and father.

As far as why Alura did not leave, Kara answered that last season in Ep. "Stranger Visitor From Another Planet", when Kara herself said, "I ask myself everyday why my mother didn't crawl into that pod with me....now I know, she felt guilty, she felt responsible for what happened on Krypton, dying must have seemed honorable, but dying is a lot easier than getting back up when the world ends".

This could be a better episode than Supergirl Lives.

Glad the focus is back on Supergirl.

I think Mon-El is being controlled by his parents to fight Supergirl. I think this is a good way to work out their frustrations, especially for Kara.

Hope Lobo is in this episode in some way, shape, or form.

I wouldn't mind getting slapped by Teri Hatcher. :woot:

If Lobo were gonna be in this, we'd already know about it, because they would've hyped it as soon as they cast him. That said, he got a vague mention last season, so maybe he'll get a vague mention again, lol.

Don't forget the Fort Rozz Kryptonians... They're still up on the prison ship.

Plus I don't think a lot of Kryptonians knew their world was about to end. The planet exploding underneath their feet leaves little time to get to an escape ship. Whereas with Daxam, they had some time before Krypton's debris hit and shattered the moon, and then for that debris to hit Daxam.

Leaves enough time for Lar Gand and Rhea to get off with one ship and crew, leaving their son behind I will add, but not many Kryptonians. There were probably some who were off-world, but unless they are under a yellow sun, they are just normal creatures trying to survive in alien environments.

And I really hope in Season 3 we get Kandor and her parents. I would love an entire season dealing with them trying to get their daughter to return with them to a New Krypton. And the World Killers. Bring us some World Killers!

Is there mind control going on here or something? what is with Jonn and Mon-el??????

I'm really looking forward to this episode, it looks like a hell of a lot of action and fun. *sighs*.... getting back to Supergirl again, I don't mind some love thrown in, but they have really been lacking some Supergirl kicking butt these last few eps. Time for her to stop playing on other shows and get back to her own. :o:cmad::sly:

My guess would be one of the aliens trying to collect on the bounty has mind-control capabilities and uses Supergirl's known super-powered friends as pawns to take her out.

And yeah, I too want to get back to Supergirl kicking butt. Enough with the romance already.

Oh, I don't mind the romance, I've enjoyed their couch scenes....it gives Kara a center and that IMO is good....but she can have those scenes and kick arse as well. :sly:

I just don't think romance is this show's (or the Berlanti-verse's) strong-suit at all, so the less they focus on it, the better, imo.

Also, just you mentioning "couch scenes" makes me miss the Alex/Kara ones. :(

We can have both.

Can we? The evidence they've presented (eg, the episodes) suggests not. Unless I'm mistaken, we've not had a single Alex/Kara couch scene since Mon-El realized his newfound feelings for Kara (while on the couch, funny enough!) in "The Darkest Place."

It seems the romance they're putting the most energies in are Maggie and Alex.

To me they are just doing the Alex/Kara scenes at the kitchen table...same sister interaction. So far this season I believe we have had 4, 4.5 if you count the exchange in "The Darkest Place". I have no problem with the change of location. oooooh, and the couch scene in Alex's apartment in "Changes" so with the kitchen table scenes 5.5. :) AAAAAND HEY, we can also count the bench scene in the park in "Changes"......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND THE BIGGEST SCENE OF THE SEASON THUS FAR, the window/ship scene. Soooo, cooooooooooooooooooooooome on, the sisterhood is still there, the sisterhood is still intact, just not on the couch. :/

"Changing" was pre-"Darkest Place" (the episode Mon-El was officially declared as love interest, basically). So since then? Fine, I'll give you a kitchen table scene. Not enough!

The "kitchen table scene" there have been 4.5....thank you very much. ;) SINCE "Darkest Places"... including "Darkest Places"

If we are going to slam Mon-El then we slam Maggie....HELLO, why were they together watching TV on the couch instead of Kara and Alex????? Uh?????? :sly:

And Kara has asked twice for a TV night and Alex turned her down for a night with Maggie.... Uh????????????

I already voiced my distaste for these "end the episode with scenes with both significant others" trend, so yes, that includes Maggie, but her scenes have been very brief compared to Mon-El's, so it's not as bothersome. It STILL bugs me that we didn't get a proper apology from Alex for insinuating that Kara was not a part of their family, emotional window scene be damned. SHE should have been there at the end of "Exodus" instead of Mon-El, imo. I desperately needed a proper heart-to-heart between those two after all that, and now after this week's episode, it seems like that's just been skimmed over.

And there have been 4.5 Kara/Alex kitchen table scenes since "The Darkest Place"? Not counting group scenes? If you say so. Regardless, I miss the damn couch/TV nights. The kitchen table implies a brief visit, not proper sisterly bonding time. :oldrazz:

I think it's clear that Kara and Alex are drifting apart due to their relationships with Mon-El and Maggie Sawyer.
