There's tons of them like this all over NYC.Orko Is King said:I know Hugh Jackman's a big guy but this is nuts!

I've been seeing the poster in the lower left-hand corner around NY. For a few times I thought it was an ad for a pop singer's new album like Britney Spears or something since I think she's worn that kind of outfit before. But then I saw the little x logo on the her collar and got it. Anyways, what do you think of the subtle nature of these? The Angel one is even more subtle than the others. Just imagine just seeing that alone. I think the photography is great and if you're promoting a movie like X-men 3 this is an interesting way to do it. I would think of this as a form of engagement with the savy viewer rather than a blatant awareness campaign like every other movie promotion. Have there been any other cool movie promotions? The last interesting thing I remember was the Wedding Crashers movie site when you could put people's faces into the trailer.

Poster
I find this poster really really cool, the version i saw at the subway station and behind the telephone booth is a bit more rectangular horizontally. There's no mention of the movie or the studio or the actors at all, just a date and "Take A Stand"~ I just really like the concept of it, so relax, so quiet and stylish, the character isn't even facing you or anyone, just hanging there, chilling alone, waiting for something~ but you know this is gonna be an action movie cos, comeon XMen, Wolverine!! The shot here it's cool as James Dean, that's all I can say~

Let's open up a restaurant in Madripoor (or maybe not...)
So, I saw my first X3 poster out in the world today and instead of it filling me with geeker joy, my first thought was: OMG! It's Emo "No Day But Today" Wolverine!
The tagline is "Take a Stand" and, honestly, shouldn't it be "Take an Angsty Lean"?
Good gravy.
And now I can't get the image of Wolverine and Cyclops singing "I'll Cover You" out of my mind, so if there's an enterprising vidder out there who happens to be trolling their friendsfriendslist and sees this...pleeeeeease do it! In a perfect world, it would be a Logan/Bobby vid, but I think there's more potential for source material with Logan and Scott.
"With a thousand sweet kisses..."
:::head-desk:::
Next thing you know, Logan'll be re-programming Cerebro to send out the message, "Actual reality! Act up! Fight the Legacy Virus!"

I keep seeing these big billboards around that show a very catholic style angel, and it says "Take a stand" and then gives a date.
Did they make a movie out of that "left behind" book? You know the one, it is a story of what happens after the Rapture(tm) when all the kool kids float away to gloat, leaving behind all the unhip, unsaved people.
Of course it could also be a poster for the upcoming Omen remake.
The Hills have Eyes movie is looking somewhat interesting, and there's a few others I'll need to see.
Remakes don't have a very good track record of being very good.
Oh, so I spent my first night at the new place! I shall give a report after I spend a few more, but in the morning I did miss seeing Kelly, the golden retriever at the other place.

No problem ted.tedw said:Did anyone clue that last guy in about what the movie is?
Edited to say: thanks for posting these, Retro - it's cool to see other peoples' reactions, especially non-hardcore fans. I almost wanted to speak to this guy I saw standing in the newsagent's today reading an article on the movie in Empire, but didn't.
def, it gets people talkingRetroman said:No problem ted.
Yeah it's great reading peoples reactions especially the last one. I think it may have been a smart movie by the marketing people not to put a big elobarate X-Men 3 or X-Men The Last Stand on the poster.

on a side note... 2 angel posters were stolen on my normal route home from class.. with one, someone busted the glass and ripped it trying to take it out of the bus shelter! i noticed that 2 days ago... now the glass is fixed and a new angel poster took its place... WOW there fast
no kidding... i just felt bad for the ripped angel... (they didnt even finish taking it after they ripped it! I woulda taken it still and least taped it and had a ripped angel poster.. better then none!Retroman said:This explains why so many have turned up on ebay.
FOX should take a hint a start selling these posters themselves.
That sucksPsionic Force said:Well, I am in such a bad mood. I got my Phoenix poster today... completely damaged! I want to cry! It is creased and was damaged, I dont know what to do. I am trying to get my money back and need to ship this back to the seller. Anyone know where I can get one cheap? I only paid $100 for this. I am so sad today! With all that has gone bad in my life the past month, this is the one thing that made me happy
