HOLY **** JOHN BLAKE IS ACTUALLY ROBIN? NOLAN ACTUALLY WENT THAT ROUTE? AND IT WASN'T IMPLIED OR HINTED AT, HE'S CALLED ROBIN AND HE INHERITS THE BATCAVE!!! AHHH! I did not see that coming.

That ending was so beautiful. Bruce survived and he saw Alfred again.

I couldn't believe how short and abrupt the hospital scene was.

When Bane and Talia secured control of the bomb and had a detonator, why didn't they just destroy the city? Why let it count down. I get that they wanted to "break" Batman first, but after doing so, and letting him watch his failure, why didn't they detonate?

I wonder how hard it was for JGL to not brag to people that he's the successor to batman. no wonder he always looked so amped up whenever he promoted the movie.

as for the ending, i wouldn't have any complaints if the last two shots of the movie were interchanged and that the movie ended with the shot of alfred smiling at the camera when he was at the cafe. (without cutting to the shot of bruce and selina)

and as for my thoughts with the actual ending, i dont think that it was a dream/fantasy by alfred. when he was telling his dream to bruce, the bruce look-a-like has his back turned to the camera. while the ending had bruce facing the camera.

the general audience loved it and others will love it. i'm almost surprised they were clapping so enthusiastically at the end considering they'be been silent for the most part of the film

but i can see how the Batman fans would be split on it.

That was A perfect way for Batman to retire.

With Catwoman, no less - that's ****ing Earth-1 right there.

And Robin was done as realistically and as sensibly as anyone could ever have imagined it.

Oh man, so much to say, don't know where to begin. Long story short, I loved it, albeit having to take in a highly controversial ending.

Re: the ending, it really was typical Nolan and I'm not quite sure whether what Alfred saw was real or not. It was just too perfect given the fantasy that Alfred had described to Bruce earlier.

My mind is racing so I'll just go through my favourite moments

• Blake and Bruce's first reaction, yeah Blake made a bit of a jump in his deducement but the ending actually puts it into context a bit better.
• First fight between Bane and Batman was absolutely mindblowing, surprisingly emotional and absolutely vicious. And the classic lift and knee smash, oh man, jaw dropped and took awhile to register with me what I just saw.
• Dance between Bruce and Selina, great chemistry between Hathaway and Bale.
• Bane's passionate rant outside Blackgate. It was a moment that summed up how manipulative and evil Bane was, that he could put such conviction behind words that you know he didn't mean one word of.
• The moment from when the doc tells Bruce to lose the rope, I was on the edge of my seat. Fantastic.
• Batman handing Bane's his ass and then the Talia reveal. Hardy made the scene.
• Final interaction between Bruce and Gordon.
• Alfred breaking down.
• Blake telling Gordon that he can't stand watching the injustice from within the structure of the law.

Just loved it, perfect end to one of the best trilogies ever.

i actually looked away a couple of times when bane was destroying batman in their first fight. and i did that during my second viewing. already knowing how brutal batman will get his ass whooped made it even tougher on me emotionally. i was surprised that the first batman/bane fight would affect me that way....on my second viewing, no less.

Nope, I think he just served his purpose. He may have been traveling abroad or just left Gotham, but he told Bruce he wasn't going through it again and he meant it. Kinda sad when he does return to find exactly what he feared: Bruce dead.

Granted the ending makes up for that but still.

Until Nolan confirms otherwise, I don't see why some are believing/saying that

what Alfred saw was potentially an illusion, ala "inception" style.

Nolan has stated many times that this film was to end Bruce's journey and to complete it, and I don't think he'd leave people questioning about Bruce's fate on the final film.
