The one real positive I can see moving forward is that
there's no way you get a JGL Batman in the Justice League. You've GOTTA have Bruce for that. So that's why I'm thinking, if the proposed ending is accurate, it won't lead to more adventures. Unless DC and WB just don't give a **** anymore and are willing to run two continuities at once. Given that Nolan's the only smart play they have made for 20 years, one has to wonder...

I don't have a problem with Bruce finding peace either. In fact, I'm a supporter of it. The man has gone through so much **** that not giving him one legitimate 'peaceful' ending to his journey is selfish of the writers and filmmakers. The JGL piece, however, reeks of studio bull****.

That part I can maybe buy into. [BLACKOUT]It's hard to imagine the guys who came up with the endings of BB/TDK could be so clueless about what we want. Bruce is the guy we care about, not some wannabe replacement. [/BLACKOUT]

So question....

How far into the Movie does Batman actually appear?

In begins, he appeared I think it was exactly an hour in

It IS a definite ending, if true .
It just isnt the definite ending others wanted .
Eveyody has their own view what "definite ' means .

There's nothing definite about it.

And there's no conclusion to The Dark Knight Legend if this version of the ending holds up.

With Tapley being a Batman fanboy, I can see now why he freaked out over what he heard.

I bet the general audience and critics will be OK with it though. None of them are as attached to the notion of [BLACKOUT]Bruce Wayne being the only Batman[/BLACKOUT] as some of us are.

Oh yeah. I think the GA will not have any problems with it. The reviews have all been positive so far. I think there will just be a smaller group that will have issues with it. Kinda like how there are those (like me) who preferred BB over TDK.

I think that maybe the earlier interpretations were correct, that

Blake finding the cave and the suit are meant as a revelation for him personally, not that he's gonna start fighting crime as a costumed crusader. If he is "Robin" at all, it's in the help he gives to Batman in this film. Or if he does don the suit he takes the name of Nightwing.

Yup.

IMO it undermines all the journey that Bruce went through in Begins to be Batman. Now, I understand that they probably will devote a whole lot of time building up Blake in TDKR to make him lovable and admirable and such but still...

I think it'll be a bigger split in the fanbase than that. [BLACKOUT]What made the endings of the first two so great is that they directly involved Bruce. This final shot doesn't, it's a cliffhanger for a spinoff Batman Beyond. [/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, he "confirmed" recently on his twitter that the r2ind spoilers were real. And that John Blake's name is John Robin Blake. He made fun of the people who doubted it or disliked it and then when they figured out they could or were real turned into sheep.

Precisely, which is why I believe in Shape's assessment of the ending (missing other crucial aspects and/or reading a false/incorrect spoiler) I severely doubt that Nolan decided to end The Dark Knight Legend with a rookie cop donning the cowl.

We should storm Nolan's house and ask him. Because a few more days of this will kill us. :csad::woot:

Kinda hilarious that the last shot of the trilogy is not Bruce, Batman, and heck not even Gordon or Gotham. It's... John Blake at the Batcave! Chills. :awesome:

It's starting to make sense:

John Blake opens a cafe IN the Batcave, named: Le Bruce

It was speculated that [BLACKOUT]Blake finding the suit isn't supposed to indicate his future as a possible Batman or Batman-like figure. There was an alternate explanation for the scene, such as - Blake coming to realizing who Bruce Wayne really was. Just sort of an epiphany.[/BLACKOUT]

However the only part of this scene that would send me shivers is [BLACKOUT]the image of the Batsuit, rising up, emphasis on this wonderful symbol of Batman.[/BLACKOUT]

I'm sorry, but it sounds like everyone is over reacting to one possible interpretation of a rumored ending that, if true, is out of the context of the film as a whole.

Before everyone starts making wild assumptions about executives pushing Nolan to make changes or what have you, maybe wait and see if the ending for the movie works in context.

In my opinion, [blackout]Blake becoming Batman would have felt far more impactful had his character been introduced during TDK, at least.[/blackout]

It's not even that, it's a tease of it. To make matters worse, the final scene doesn't even involve Bruce. Think about the chills that went down your spine when you heard "and you'll never have to" as Batman jumped off the building at the end of BB or "a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight" as Batman rides into the light at the end of TDK? Both of those endings were downright iconic precisely because they involved Bruce at the very end. This crap with JGL sounds like it was ripped straight out of the end of SM2 when Harry finds his dad's gear.

I like that interpretation and I probably would lean to that but I'm guessing that the majority would not interpret it that way.

Unless it was made clear. JGL could provide a shocked expression, and then shed a tear or two.

And that's the problem. Why leave it open for interpretation? Nolan said this was "the end." Doesn't sound like it if he's giving us an Inception style "what if" ending.

Am I the only one that thought that was quite cool?

People are rushing to judge this without having any context. Imagine you found out the end of the Dark Knight two weeks out without any context. Someone just posted on here that at the end of the movie, Batman is forced to retire because everyone thinks he murdered Harvey Dent.

The outrage would have been similar. The rumor has it that
Blake has as much or more screen time than Bale, so by the end of the movie I think we will know and love the character, and this will be less of a shock.
