Personally I think it depends on how it's done. I suspect it will be quite cool to see Blake realise that Briuce Wayne, international playboy, the man most likely not to be Batman, was in fact Batman.

A good amount less than that. Not too late.
Those critics are stupid. Just because the whole cast doesn't die people assume Nolan will be setting up for a sequel, but no...that's not the case. Everything in this ending has a thematic purpose for the film AND the series overall.
Also, I truly believe that if people are outraged by the ending, it'll be purely because of a stupid, fanboy-ish reason: because it's not perfectly in line with the comics. People will take things out of context and be blinded by their fanboy-isms, which is quite sad IMO because the ending plays out so well on screen.

I hate to break it to you but:
Blake knows Bruce is Batman from an early point in the film.
So whats the difference in Red Robin's background vs. Robin's? Not terribly familiar with that aspect of the comics.
And I agree with Shape, people walking into the film expecting the worst or with a closed minded idea as to what can't happen onscreen based on their own fanboy desires will end up ruining it for themselves.

Am I the only one that thought that was quite cool?
People have already ruined it for themselves, sadly. I'll say that a certain part of the final minutes SHOCKED me, literally dropped my jaw to the floor. But what surprised me was...I ****ing loved it. I don't think it would have been NEARLY as exciting if I knew exactly what was going to happen.

Im still stoked as hell for it - we don't have any officially confirmed recount of the ending, we're left with a vague idea of what may or may not happen to a few characters and we definitely don't know itll all play out on screen. Admittedly, we're probably struggling with the 'HOW WILL IT WORK!?' due to our own limited perceptions as to what we can and cannot enjoy seeing.
Thanks for sticking with the thread btw, it's cool to see you back.
BTW love your avatar - going to see the 25th Anniversay production on 25th August.
Sad thing is I didn't spoil myself. Turns out I was spoiled months ago, and thought it was just a troll seeking attention.
Awesome! I'm a huge Phanatic.
Hahaha yeah me too at least partially - thats sort of the reason why I dont mind discussing it now. As I said before, reading about it won't come close to seeing it onscreen, so I know it won't ruin my own personal enjoyment.
Plus, I initially took the plunge with just going full bore spoilers because I was relatively certain that some of the leaks we had read early on were bound to be at least partially true.
