The 52 '52' Spinoffs, Which Ones & Why?

^ Uh-oh, "spontaneous splurge alert!"

I can't do that or I'd buy them all! :(

But the Metal Men were recently in Superman/Batman and no one was buzzing about that? Of course, I know it's probably b/c it is DC's worst book now that Loeb's off it. :down
The fact that Pat Lee drew the arc didn't help, either. Pat Lee is a deal-breaker for me. If I see his name on a comic, I don't read it. Simple and efficient way of maintaining my sanity.

Well, Black Adam & Countdown to Adventure start this week. Who's in?

I'll be getting both. I like Adam Strange, I like Black Adam, and I like Doug Mahnke. Countdown to Adventure is gonna have to knock my socks off for me to keep reading, though. Countdown isn't nearly as worthy of dumping all my money into as 52 and its spin-offs were.

I'm at least trying them both on for size as well. Although, after seeing what becomes of Black Adam in Countdown, I'm wondering why I need to buy 8 issues of the mini-series??

Next week is Booster Gold though, I've got a special feeling about that one though!

I'm not really looking forward to any of these spin-offs. Black Adam doesn't need 8 issues so we find out his secret word, which we already know. Countdown to Adventure is written by Beechen, and while I dig his Robin, I don't want to see what he does with Animal Man and Adam Strange. Booster Gold has a chance at being great, but at this point, I have no faith in Johns outside of JSA.

Bah, never mind about Countdown to Adventure. I forgot Beechen was writing it.

Booster Gold could be Johns' saving grace, I think. The series is built on the concept of Booster traveling through time to various Earths. That allows Johns to just take Booster back to whatever era he feels like writing rather than bringing all the crappy elements of that era into the present-day New Earth like he's been doing on every other comic he writes.

I saw the Black Adam #1 at the shop a few minutes ago, but I didn't see the Countdown to Adventure?? Did I overlook it?

I picked up Black Adam and I loved it. What Teth Adam did in the mountains was gnarly.

I just saw the previews for Booster Gold on Newsarama and I was wondering,

Why is he wearing a Legion flight-ring?

None of them. I don't have the time or money for weekly series (I'm going through 52 via the trades) and since DC seems to connect everything to them nowadays, I'm pretty much down to the basics as it is. Even they get mired up in it all sometimes :csad:

Dude Johns' runs on Green Lantern and Action Comics are freaking awesome! Granted I'll be dropping Action once Donner is off the book.

I checked Wikipedia and it's actually part of his origin--he picked up a Legion flight ring and Brainiac 5's force field belt before hopping back to the past the first time. How that works, given that he's from the 25th century and the Legion is from the 31st, I don't know.

Huh, that's strange
Thanks for doing the research, I was really taken aback when I saw the ring on his finger.
