Exactly. WB has done a very good in the marketing department for TDKR. The studio got Mountain Dew, The NBA Finals and Dale Earnhardt Jr to promote the film so far. In addition, WB released a six minute prologue in front of MI:4 and the last trailer in front of The Avengers.
Sarcasm much?

I think Cory's right nonetheless.

TDKR is still a film you have to search for though. If I wasn't already a fan of the series there is no way in hell I'd know a new one is coming out.

Yeah, of course nobody knows about it. It's not like they attached two of the film's trailers to film's that made $1B worldwide, LOL. No way bro.

These comments about WB dropping the ball with TDKR's marketing are going to look extremely foolish in a few weeks.

MLB All-Star game... many moves releases where posters, standups, banners, etc will be... Fathers Day...July 4th... numerous other products(like mt. dew), TV show finales/premieres... Not to mention...the virals are not done. :BA

They look extremely foolish right now.

Very true.

In a month we'll be flooded with so much TDKR it'll be like the marketing dam holding it back burst.
Besides the GA knows there's another Batman film on the way. I mean take my brother for example, he's the epitome of the GA (seriously, if there was a Jewish-American version of Jersey Shore he'd be a cast member) and even HE knows about TDKR.

I suppose fiends such as us will just have to twiddle our thumbs for a couple of weeks.

I wonder if we don't see one frame (okay, maybe a few new shots) of new footage and it's all reused footage in the TV spots. Nolan seems to have an even tighter leash on the footage of this film than Inception. If I remember correctly Inception gave all its money shots away in trailers and spots. Though that film had more to prove in terms of marketing.

And let's not confuse our impatience for new material with a lackluster marketing strategy. To say that nobody outside of hardcore fans knows about this film is just flat-out ridiculous.

- There was a teaser trailer attached to Harry Potter 7.2 - one of the highest grossing films of all time.
- There was a trailer with Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - and while it wasn't the financial juggernaut that Harry Potter was, it still allowed for decent exposure.
- There was a trailer with The Avengers, which is on track to be one of the highest grossing movies of all time.
- There was a TV spot attached to an NBA game, which had thousands (if not millions) of people watching.
- There are posters hanging up in theaters.

Yep, so why are fans worrying right now? TDKR is in great hands.

I just want my f**king poster, but no fear here.

Okay I may have exaggerated a little but there are many people who likely didn't see The Avengers whatever else they were attatched to. I went to see The Avengers with someone who was a biggish BB/TDK fan, the trailer came on and he said "Oh they are making another one?". My point is that there are still quite a few people who don't know this film exsists. Yes they may have attatched it to the biggest film of the year but not every showing and not everyone saw The Avengers.

No they wont seeing as the comments are about how the little marketing up to this point.

Ahuh. Get back to me in June, would you?

As I pointed out above, the marketing up until this point has been perfectly fine. The marketing blitzkrieg for a film of this size usually doesn't move full-steam ahead until a couple of months before the film's release.

Your little anecdotal evidence isn't conductive to a broader audience.

If there is a sudden marketing push I'll happily say fine but I will continue to say there have been very on and off up to that point.

And I understand it is just my anecdote but what I'm saying is there is possibly a number of people who simply enjoyed BB and TDK who wasn't aware of the new film before early May if they saw The Avengers.

But your little anecdote is antithetical to what you want to get across. Your friend didn't know another Bat film was being made, he/she saw the trailer before Avengers and now he knows. So WB's little marketing scheme has made aware another person of their film.

... But now they do know about it .

At this point, the only people who have any justifiable reason to not have any clue about this film's existence are those who haven't stepped foot in a movie theater during the last several months, or are one of the five people who didn't see The Avengers.

I'm betting midway/end of June the TV spots will start using new footage.

True but they weren't aware of the Teaser Trailer or prologue which was all done 5 months earlier.

All of you complainers should realize that the reason they aren't yet amping up the hype for TDKR is because Avengers is still making monies (and the trailer is attached to that).
