This ''Will Morgan Freeman hurt TDKR's box office'' thing is ****ing stupid.

If I wanted to watch the ending to Batman Begins again and pretend that was the end of the Nolan mythos, I'd stick the dvd in, forward to that scene and use my imagination to suspend my belief for that moment. No need for a 250 million dollar film all for the purpose of reshowing that to me.

So if it follows the pattern of Gordon and Bats ending the movie...what could be the ending?
I think it'll end with a little exchange with Batman and Gordon. Probably something like this:

Gordon: Well that was crazy.

Batman: Really?.....

Gordon: What?......

Batman: You're not going to say it? I mean, come on! I know I told you a few years ago that you didn't have to say "thank you", but did you just see what I did? I was being modest, man! A little thank you every now and then wouldn't hurt, now would it? "Oh look at me, I have a mustache, my name is Gordon. I don't say 'thank you', even after Batman just saved the entire friggin city from complete and total destruction".

Gordon: But..

Batman: Whatever, man.....WHAT.EVER! Oh, and these smoke pellets? Yeah, I never used them...didn't have to. I'm just that good! Actually, they kinda smell, so I always avoided using them cause it made me a little nauseous, but screw it. Yeah, "thanks"...thanks for nothing!

*throws smoke pellet, and makes a speedy escape.

*Zimmer score, followed by credits.

But... But... This will bring things to a full circle... :csad:

I kind of want an ending with Batman watching over the city..and NO not the bridge scene... adding to that whether Gordon knows he is Bruce or not... i'd like Gordon and Batman (lucius alfred,,maybe if they live) to be in constant radio contact... so maybe the ending could be Batman in a very epic setting watching the city, and Gordon radio contacts him..blah blah...batman flies off....TDKR.

no not that corny...but something like that would do fine for me...

now if Bats does die (like seriously bruce dies as well.) and Gordon never knew bruce was bats... Id like to see Gordon visiting Bruce's grave and saying Thank You... Gordon kind of had the idea bruce was batman.

again...not that corny...but something like that.

God...I'm tired of this whole "full circle" thing. It, like everything else on this forum, has been taken WAY overboard.

Maybe the shot of Batman standing on top of the bridge is the ending. Hell if we know.

But, it is all coming full circle. :o

His point is that it should be its own scene rather than a replication of something we saw in BB. That takes "full circle" too far and becomes lazy writing.

Anything that has a bat signal and/or a conversation with Gordon will be a different take on the same ending of the first two films.

It's not the destination, it's the journey that matters. :o

yeah the hero of the movie taking the blame for the villains crimes, ending with a semi-cliffhanger of the hero being hunted by the authorities. seen that thousands of times before!

Tell that to Chris Nolan who's repeatedly stated the thing that made this film a possibility for him was the conclusion they came up with. :cwink: The journey that leads to the conclusion is of course integral, that's the point of the film, but I doubt he'd constantly brag about the completion of the trilogy being his justification for coming back if it was just lifting the protagonist back exactly to where he was at the end of Begins. That's taking "full circle" a little too far.

TDK ending was anything but cliche.

How about Gordon's speech? His son's Shane moment? Batman riding off into his equivalent of the sunset? There was a montage. :woot:

Also the of the superhero taking the fall is not an uncommon theme. It is in fact what Spidey has built his career on. The greater good ending in general has been done plenty in film as well.

Should have put a :cwink: instead of a :o

Yes, of course, I'm just averse to this idea that anything vaguely resembling a conclusion similar to a previous narrative is somehow a failure in terms of storytelling, because whatever the ending is, the characters themselves will have been irrevocably changed to the point where there is no status quo left to reinforce.

For the record, I don't think it'll end with Batman and Gordon. It may end with a thank you though; or just Bruce saying "You're bloody welcome, mate!"
