The thing that puts a smile on my face is how little we've seen of this film. With 3 hours of footage, there will be so many interior shots that will surprise the hell out of us since a large amount of footage has been exterior so far, minus a few things like the masquerade party.

Wally Pfister said in January 2011 that the script was too long and Nolan had to cut it back. Which is why I was befuddled by the report(s) that it was 2 hours. I figured TDK's length would be decent enough depending upon what they do with Bruce Wayne/Batman and what should be support characters (everyone else).

3 hours?!

HOLY SH*********************************************T!!! :wow:

There's going to be a significant amount of back story I figure.

So it's official that it's going to be over 3 hours long or is that just another rough cut?

I would how much it was cut back. Nolan apparently had enough for two films.

I feel the same thing.

It's locked. I'm pretty sure they need to lock in editing before sound mixing, and my sound mixer friend said they did all the sound mixing for TDK in April. If they change it, they need to re-mix the sound and there's no time.

So 3+ hours it is! :awesome:
Ideally, yes you have to lock picture before sound design/mix and coloring...especially if you're working off of numerous reels. Not to say last-minute changes don't happen especially if a studio decides to 'step in', but it happens with the understanding and responsibility of a domino-effect of extra costs and overtime hours to still make a deadline.

3 hours is really long, and even TDk felt too long by a bit. But bring it on anyway...it should be fun.

Indeed. There's still a lot that we don't know about. Even with the TV spots, we've been surprised at the new scenes we've seen. :yay:

This is the final cut.

This bad boy had been rated by the ratings board for a while now. Roger Nall saw the final cut.

I love how each Nolan Batman film becomes longer than the previous one.

The runtime rises!!

BEN HUR is pissed.

This series has more than earned its right to go out with a 3 hour epic and I'm glad it seems Nolan is capitalizing on that.

The total running time rises!

Edit: Figs I swear I didn't copy your post. Great minds baby!

Final cut but possibly with some unfinished effects or sound mixing, right? Well, Paul Franklin said that they just finished the "shouting" today (whatever that means).

Exactly. Begins was the right length because of its origin story. TDK was 10-15 minutes too long. 3 hours seems really indulgent to me.
We'll essentially be seeing the rebirth of Wayne, Bane backstory, Selina backstory & Talia backstory. The run time is fine.

Didn't Nolan implied that there won't be a backstory for Selina? We're sure with Talia. I'm about 80% sure with Bane.

3 hours is... wow!

On the cane theorys I just wanna say something. What if the trailers footage is not linear? What if he is retired and all and after the battles with Bane he uses the cane and the whole alfred thing saying he won't bury another Wayne is for him to not become Batman again?

I know it may sound dumb but I just wanna put another take on the trailers. Lets not tie ourselves, lets try to think different! :cwink:
