Maybe that's Bruce comes back to Gotham. Maybe they arrested him and this time, Selina helps him.

What I don't like about this theory is that Selina must know that Bruce is Batman.

He's out of commission.

Comes back

Gets beaten

Taken away

Comes back

gets Caught

Gets sprung out

Comes back?

Too much.

this is probably right after Bane beats him and is "processing" him. The rich are forced into concentration camps essentially only able to take literally what they could grab.

Yes, you're probably right.

No, and i'd bet my last dime on this.

Look at the batcave! It was being re-built alongside the Wayne Manor re-development during TDK, and would have taken years to get it to the state it's in. Why would he keep building when he retired straight after TDK? 8 yrs is too long for him to disappear. What was Wayne doing for that time?

My educated guess is that after TDK he lay low for a while, but came back and was active for some years, chased by all sorts of agencies while trying to clean the city up. Then over time he phased himself out, and and at the start of TDK(assuming it is a chronological film, i.e- no flashbacks), he his in a state of retirement. If his limp is an injury from the end of TDK, then how does he recover from that during the course of ~TDKR? Nonsensical. I think his injury may be from a close encounter with the police, like a chase or something, and because he is past his physical peak, he get's messed up, and then retires...or maybe it happens before the film.

Here's why I don't think he's inactive that whole 8 years:
1. He needs Batman. If there's nothing obvious for Batman to do, Bruce will find an excuse. Think about it... Batman has to enforce the whole Harvey Dent act... make sure the band-aid is on tight. My bet is Nolan's Batman does have a "rogue's gallery" of sorts by TDKR, but it's made up mostly of petty criminals and crime bosses instead of the ones we're all familiar with.

2. The cane. We already know that the cane is not a result of his first fight with Bane. I refuse to believe that he's still on a cane eight years after the encounter that killed Two-Face, because if so, then Bruce has always been weak as hell and will never heal from it. I believe the cane is a result of two things: a) a accumulation of injuries sustained starting with that fall at the end of TDK and then continuing through at least part of that 8-year gap, and b) mental faculties and where Bruce's head is at that time. It's quite possible that the cane is more of a mental manifestation than anything, that he doesn't actually need it, but clings to it almost like a security blanket.

So no, Batman is not totally inactive during that eight-year gap. He might be inactive for the last two or three years, but I'm convinced that, during most of that 8-year gap, Batman was active, even if in only a minor way.

Hiding the Bat, New Batcave and injury all suggest he's been active at <some> point in the 8 year gap.

So the muffled Bane was back for this new TV-spot. Me thinks in the end it will be the clearer voice from Trailer 3 and the apparently changed prologue, they just haven't finished all the sound editing yet.

The cave for me is undeniable proof that he spent a significant chunk of the 8yr as Batman. The limp is the only thing that stops me from believing that he starts the film out of commission, unless is seen flashback style. Maybe he crashed the Lambo :D

Where did the new banners come from? What's the source?

I didn't spoil myself this much for The Dark Knight. How were people's movie experiences having known massive spoilers??

Easy. His fall at the end of TDK.

Right.

This man, trained to withstand pain, to engage 600 men, to disappear on command, need eight freakin' years to recover from a fall... immediately after which he got up, ran to the batpod, and drove it away from the cops?

Yeah.

No.

Sorry.

Try again.

The massive fall in which he survived but Harvey died.

That'd mess up your walk for afew years..

One or two years, maybe. Eight years?

Not buying it.

And for the record, I never bought that fall killing Dent. Should've killed Batman, then, too. Although Dent was thrown over. Batman was hanging on to the ledge and then lost his grip.

But still...

I think the opposite. The TV spot voice is how he will sound and the trailer was over manufactured specifically for it.

Exactly. I like that connection to. He's been falling deeper and deeper ever since then, metaphorically speaking. Seeing him climb that well will be ****ing sweet.

Right.

Guessing he has stopped training. Did you forget the gun shot and knife to the intestines?

Your arrogance is astounding, btw.

I'm not sure. I think it's a flashback for some reason. I don't have any reason to believe this but I think he has a flashback in the fort dealing with his LoS days or something.

I think we're trying to piece too much with so little information too.

Up until the last trailer we were all convinced Selina behind the bars were at the prison too.

Quite interesting. I never thought of that.

I think they shot some of the interior scenes in the prison in the fort and those steps we see. There was a rumor that Josh Pence was spotted in India, right? Maybe you're right, maybe it's not the prison, but something else entirely.

Right.

This man, trained to withstand pain, to engage 600 men, to disappear on command, need eight freakin' years to recover from a fall... immediately after which he got up, ran to the batpod, and drove it away from the cops?

Yeah.

You do realize that he's a man, right? Yeah, he ran to the batpod. Adrenaline is a powerful thing.

Injuries are from Dark Knight, cave is just prudent planning.

That doesn't make sense. He didn't rebuild Wayne Manor, someone else did. When it was done, he built the cave down there himself.

The Manor wasn't finished until after TDK.

So during the Gap he rebuilt the cave and did something with the Bat because.

Now perhaps you're suggesting he built this things without being Batman, fine....

I suppose that makes sense but it doesn't serve your argument and more than it serves mine.

Guessing he has stopped training. Did you forget the gun shot and knife to the intestines?

Soooo....he just recovers from an 8yr limp in time to fight Bane and be active during TDKR? It's like....you're not even thinking logistically. If his injury was from TDK, and he still couldn't walk 8yrs later...he's not going to be able to walk within a month or two.
