Personally I think it's great if we'd get a villain that is just outright hated.

I think that's what we're getting.

It's not his role in the story that's been getting negativity, it's stuff like the voice, Hardy's size etc. Physical attributes, not the writing.



How can you tell that? He's been featured less in the trailers than Joker was in TDK's ones.

Exactly, all that trailer footage of Joker and how much of Joker did we get? Not that much when you think about it.


By that logic, I am just guessing that maybe the less we see in the trailer of Bane the more we will get. Although I don’t think a trailer would be indicative of screen time for anyone.


That and just based on the story, we almost have to get more Bane presence. The focus is really on Bane and what HE has done and is doing to Gotham. He's definitely taken it up a few notches compared to Jokers approach. I feel Bane is more of a force to be reckoned with and feel we will see more of him compared to what we saw of Joker.


And of course these are just my speculative opinions lol

I'm positive too. Bane isn't like the Joker in the way the audience can have "fun" with him, he's a villain they'll love to hate.

Although I wouldnt really compare, I can tell that we are getting more Bane presence and screen time than we did with Joker. I think that will help Banes stock rise in the popular dept.

I won't debate on the presence just yet because I feel like I need to see the movie but in terms of screen time I don't think he would be getting significantly more than the Joker. Sure maybe more but not a whole lot. I feel like we're not surprised every time we see a new Bane scene. By "surprised", I mean we knew/guessed already that he was in that scene based on set reports/videos. It's not like say with Selina/Catwoman where we're usually surprised that she's involved in this or that scene as well.

I think Bane's success as a villain is very dependent on the fight choreography and the perceived physical danger he presents. Hardy's size was a real concern for me initially, but seeing the drop into the iron cross between the plane seats I knew immediately where Nolan was going with Bane's physicality. He looks to have an Olympic gymnast's pound for pound strength but at 200lbs; coupled with great fighting ability and a really bad attitude, that's pretty freaky. Still, if the fight scenes are not raw and merciless, which to be honest has not been the case in Nolan movies, Bane may be heavily criticized. The dancy punch/dodge in the 3rd trailer is not impressive to me, but time will tell. The leaked footage of the Gotham City Hall fight looks a bit better.
