the 89th Annual Academy Awards - Part 1

How does anyone over the age of 12 not know who Warren Beatty is?

Oh....wait....I answered my own question.

Gosling wasn't even bothered, nor was Leo. When you got more dime pieces than Scrooge McDuck everything else is an afterthought.

That was the age I had in my head when reading those posts.

Kargo i have to say I love your avatar... was that MessenjahMatts work?

Omg lord this is just going round in circles & circles. I have talked so much about warren beatty today, i didn't even know who he was before yesterdays oscars, so this is my last post on him and what i witnessed.

I get upset when i see old people and animals hurt so when i saw la la land producer viciously snatch the envelope out of warrens hand i was shocked and very upset for him. From then on when i watched la la land producers body language and everything he seemed very mad, very passive aggressive, very negative etc. So i was saying i understand he is very confused and maybe upset and a little embarrassed but he should not have snatched from an old man (or any man or woman fyi) no matter how angry/upset you are.

Also when i say warren could have been killed it was definitely a possibility when you think about it. Bc imagine if la la land producer pulled the envelope so hard warren could have fallen and hit his head. Or maybe he would swing his arms in frustration and hit warrens head. Like i said in my original post. Getting hit by one punch can kill you you know what i'm saying. So I did not say the producer would have definitely murdered warren. But it was certainly possible in the moment bc of how the producer behaved.

So to finish, i do think the producer should apologise for snatching rudely. I did not like seeing an old person treated like that (and btw i think warren was smiling still bc he was confused and embarrassed). I hope people understand my point. I understand yours <3

Calm down, Annette. Warren's fine. :)

To be honest, i can't really remember where it originated...i've had it since probably 2010 so it's been quite a while.

It's definitely MessenjahMatt's work.

I guess Messenjah was a producer of La La land and got arrested for murder... havent seen him in forever.

Ratings apparently tanked. Lowest viewership in almost 10 years. Say what you will about the quality of the films the reality is most of the movies on the list weren't exactly the type of films with broad appeal.

So basically this dude Brian Cullinan was tweeting while he was supposed to be handling the envelopes. His ass is gone.

Just heard it on the news earlier.

It's not just that. The ceremony is getting way too long. I know they want to give everyone their spotlight on national television, but it might be worth considering televising the major awards only. At the very least, they need to find a way to streamline the show and trim as much fat as possible.

And of course, the Academy could always swallow their pride and have a Best Genre Film category if they want a cheap way to boost ratings.

FYI. The comparison was noticed a few years ago how much they look alike.

The whole 10 slots for Best Picture thing was meant to encourage nominations for more mainstream films. Instead it's excluded mainstream films more with a few notable exceptions like Mad Max. The problem is the films being nominated at the moment are for older audiences yet the 18-35 viewership is turning away from watching the ceremony more and more. I went to both Lion and Moonlight and my friend and I were easily the youngest people in the audience by a factor of at least 15 years. It's true the show is too long but the reality is the movies being nominated are not interesting to the people that matters to Hollywood.

matt damon was behind the whole thing... he... defeated Kimmel.... Good god he's a monster!

Yeah. It doesn't surprise me that they fell back into their old habit of sticking their noses up a mainstream films. You almost forget that Inception, District 9, and Avatar are Best Picture nominees. Feels like a lifetime ago.

Wouldn't it be interesting if they had a retroactive Bes Picture category? Like a "Best of Class" where they revisit films from 10 years ago to see which ones have stood the test of time? You'd think The Dark Knight would be a shoe-in to win the Class of 2008.

I think there are going to be two mainstream possibilities this year. One is Logan, the other is War for the Planet of the Apes.

Dunkirk might have a shot since the material is there for a great film and nolan's name alone make it mainstream

Who wants to listen to someone talk about dead people being full of potential and that we should dig up their stories to tell? That resonates really well with the audience. This was the lowest ranked Oscars because the Academy gave in to the pressure last year with #oscarssowhite. They applaud and nominate horrible humans like Mel Gibson, Woody Allen, Casey Affleck and then look down on half the Country in a divisive election year. They talk about humanity while relishing in exclusivity and lavish lifestyles/events. Hollywood is out of touch with reality and frankly...this Oscars was boring. I love Jimmy Kimmel but he barely had any edge. It's sad when the most talked moment was an envelope slip up. This Oscars will fade away into o-bleh-vion.
