but do we all agree that absolutely no explanation = bad?

the only way i seeing no explanation working is if the movie picks up a decent amount of time after the first, and we learn that spidey has been up to a lot of crime fighting in the interim. even then it is pretty flimsy.

I would guess it picks up around 5 months after the end of the first movie.

are you basing this off anything? if it is 5 months, then that is ages in terms of his time going about crime fighting and what not.

they may just leave it to the audience to accept that in that time, peter "upgraded" his costume.

i didnt think you were sterotyping gwen. i wrote what i did as a preemptive strike to any replies that were foolhardy enough to go "she's a girl, ergo she would be good at making a costume"
Gotcha. I guess that would be the go-to argument. Which is kind of odd considering Gwen has been portrayed as anything but a stereotypical female lead in these movies. MJ couldn't go a whole 3 movies without getting kidnapped in Raimi's movies!

But yeah, I really just like the idea of her being there for Peter and helping out where she can. It's a total nod to USM and that's all I'm really asking for.

yeww

i must admit i was against webb drawing from USM at the expense of ASM, but having read the former, i say draw away! lol. i love everything about USM minus hulk goblin.

i just wish peter stuck around a bit longer.

To hardcore online fans, maybe?

I really doubt the GA cares one way or the other.

yeah you're most likely right. although i do reckon a decent number of them will go, "why does he look different this time around?" before immediately getting over it.

Just 'cause it felt like the TASM ended around December ish..and if TASM2 is near graduation, that's about 5 months.
I'm personally fine with the new suit going on right off the bat. A tiny mention in the film of why wouldn't hurt, but I don't care much..

There's a whole world of people, from professional tailors to amateur cosplayers, who make costumes all the time. You could get an outfit made easily with no one batting an eye.

In a world where you're look at something that isn't full of comic books with colorful characters(supposedly) that people don't dress up to go to comic conventions and what not...and then to ask someone to make a suit that would be a first, yah, I'd have to wonder why there wouldn't be any questions asked.

Count me in on this boat.

I can't fathom why their world would be that much different from ours but whatever. Like they don't have comic books or costume parties? yeah that's plausible lol. But carry on anyway, God forbid someone deprive you of something pointless to argue about.

Peter is a genius, I have no problem believing he can figure out how to do ANYTHING, it takes to learn how to make a costume. Why can I believe it in the comics, but not in the movie? and why is anyone trying to come up with bad guesses about Gwen getting it made. Thats just silly.

I apologize for assuming you would think beyond this real world in thinking that just maybe Webb's universe for Spidey is a bit different...sorry about that bud

Would anybody here really like a scene where Gwen goes to a damn cosplayer and says hey make me a spider-man suit? would someone here ACTUALLY prefer that to not getting a damn explanation of the new suit?

A flashback of the suit's original inspiration would do nicely.

Remember the wall when he was in the wrestling ring? The painted face had white eyes (big eyes) that look similar to what he has now.

Before they were just from sunglasses, maybe now he makes his own to enhance his peripheral vision possibly?

that would be mega face palm. thank god it will never happen.

Not really. But since no one said that it isn't a problem.

Maybe they don't have ordinary things like Hot Pockets, staplers and indoor plumbing either.

There's no reason to assume Spidey's world is that different from our except contrariness. But since that's what you specialize in I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Nope. Lack of explanation wouldn't bother me one bit. It's the iconic suit - no explanation is required, IMO. I wouldn't mind if one was given, but it's not a deal breaker at all.

What I do NOT want to see is an explanation revolving around Gwen making the new suit. It's cliche (she's a woman, so she MUST know how to sew, right?) and just dumb in my mind, especially considering she and Peter are on the outs. And say what you will about Peter's promise to her dad, but I having a feeling he will try and figure out how to maintain his "civilian" relationship with her on some level while keeping his Spidey world separate. Her making a new suit would go against that.

In the world of the walking dead, there were no such things as zombies in their media, so anything is possible. This is Marc Webbs world, he can lay out the rules however he wants.

Yeah but I can't imagine he'd bother with something as pointless as "Anyone buying a costume would immediately be suspected of dating a teenage superhero, because that's clearly the only logical conclusion."

Anyway as I said it doesn't matter, know one even knows if Gwen has anything to do with the new outfit. I was just merely floating the possibility of her buying one instead of going all Susie Homemaker and sewing it herself.

True but they could still wear costumes just because he is popular and there are range of outfit that people wear as costume like movie characters and not just comic book characters.

Not to mention Halloween, costume parties, etc.

But enough, it isn't worth going on for pages over this.

The spandex he buys are made differently,so he makes the suit different.

I hope the explanation is "I changed the suit so I wouldnt have to hear the nerds online complain about it anymore, and they STILL do! "

*****ing morons keep saying "THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN AND ULTIMATE COSTUMES ARE THE SAME COSTUME BY A DIFFERENT ARTIST DERPHERPDERP." No they're not...the Ultimate costume has bigger lenses and different shades of red and blue.
