Age of Ultron The Avengers 2! The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - Part 49

Personally I am so sick of the "cold, lifeless, calculating" evil robot trope that Ultron is a welcome change, depending on how they handle him.

And to those who arent fans of Whedons work in general: perfectly valid, but just expect to be disappointed going in. For obvious reasons.

Well said. Several reviews have said that Whedons influence is more obvious in this movie and if that's not your cup of tea then that's ok.

Going to reserve judgement on Ultron until I see the film but I didn't like the omlette joke!

Did anyone else notice one review stated that a lot of the clips from the trailers aren't in the movie? I thought it was just the woman in the cave but it seems like there is more.

I love Joss' style and humor. Loved all the quips Ultron has said in the clips. Im gonna have a ball at this movie.

What's that have to do with a bigger picture? People expected the terminator and got something else. That throw up line was pretty jarring in the preview. Seemed a little more Johnny 5.
I like Whedon's humor 70% of the time but that throw up line firmly goes into the 30% pile. I can't think of any context in which that line will be liked by me.

People dont even get it when you explain it to them. Its pretty amazing.

I still dont buy the complaint w/ ULTRON being too human. They dont get it. He starts out as an AI like JARVIS. Remember JARVIS in Iron Man? It was just Paul Bettany talking to RDJ basically. The same applies to James Spader as Ultron. The difference being hes even smarter than Jarvis since he becomes self aware and he puts himself inside a robotic body with humanistic features.

We're talking live action, not the comics. Joss made ULTRON much more interesting than the comic book version which was just a crazy robot that wanted to kill kill kill. That version wouldve been totally dull and cliche. Just another Terminator but in the MCU.

Jarvis is more of a VI than AI :p

Thank god we aren't getting the Terminator. Or even Joss Whedon's version of the Terminator (snarky allusions to said Cameron film aside of course). In a similar vein as my previous post, if youre surprised that we got a homicidal robot with James Spaders voice and mannerisms, and Whedons humor, and not a humorless Terminator clone with a synthesized voice, that's on you. Never in the cards.

Another hour I guess. Quite remarkable that no one has jumped the gun

Guys, please. Help me out here. I can go see Age Of Ultron in about 24hs, but by myself. Or I have to wait like until Saturday to see it with friends. I mean, I want to see it as soon as possible, but also I like to share the experience and like, talk about it afterwards. What should I do? What would you do?

ZOMG! Go see it!!! Who cares if youre by yourself, which you wont be cuz its a theater full of people. You can always go back again with friends. which youll probably want to anyway.

Personally, I thought Whedon reigned in his lesser tendencies for The Avengers...maybe that's why the film turned out so good and maybe that's why...he does not like it all that much :D .

Granted, he did not have a ton of time to service all of his own whims and ideas.

Not to mention, his original ideas for the opening and ending got jettisoned. Which to be honest...the original opening and intros were BAD. I would not have liked it if the film opened that way.

Looks like Marvel gave control over all their social media accounts to RDJ so we're getting some funny and interesting BTS stuff of their press tour today.

There will be times when Ultron will make you laugh...but then it will be that much more effective when he's menacing, I'm in,

I wonder if the no strings on me line is in this movie at all lol.

Why not do both?
I did the same with DoFP :D

Right its not like you cant go back a few times after you see it alone.

I feel slightly guilty after I do the early solo every time.
