Guys, as someone who has made films/commercials and has actually had to meet the criteria set out by those who hired me, it is an exhausting process. But, when you're hired onto a project, whether it be a commercial for a company or a big budget blockbuster, you go in knowing that there is a checklist you must meet, and that at the end of the day, you have someone to answer to. Making a film is exhausting and things VERY often get heated and personal. But, it is because everyone wants what they think is best. Whedon even says it was still his film. Did he have arguments with Marvel? Yes. Did Marvel force him to cut things he wanted? Yes. But, all that said, it was a VERY Joss Whedon film. As stated by the man himself. That doesn't mean Marvel is wrong to have requirements, nor that Whedon is wrong to fight for his vision. Both of these things happened, and ultimately, both sides found enough common ground to produce this film. People are making too much out of this, IMO. Granted, I never did a movie or short with a high budget, but it honestly is the same process as something low budget or commercial.

No way!! Bump that up to HD! But I'm a bit OCD so I can see why you wanna keep it consistent.
Yep, it's definitely OCD lol. That and I like the DVD covers better than the Blu-ray ones, at least for the MCU films.

Ruffalo is the man

Well for the record, BW failed to impress me in Age of Ultron. She was far more intimidating in the previous 3 films that she appeared in, with Winter Soldier at the very top of the list. Honestly, while she was a huge player in WS, here she really was not particularly significant, even in terms of how the story played-out.

I can see now how Edgar Wright and Marvel had a problem. I loved Age of Ultron and gave it 9/10, but could it have been better if Whedon had his way?

It could have. Or it could have dragged longer and been too slow. Hard to say without seeing the finished product. Often times, the DC is better, but not in all cases. Perfect example for me is Spider-Man 2. The Extended Cut isn't as good as the Theatrical.

The main disagreements Whedon had with Marvel are that he wanted both the farm and the cave scenes, and Marvel asked him to pick one. I think having both will drag the movie longer needlessly.

Also
Whedon wanted both Capt. Marvel and Spidey at the end, but for various reasons it couldn't be done, such as the deal with Sony. Marvel wanted QS to live, but they let Whedon kill him off.

I'm no expert, but it probably would have been better to have chosen one and fleshed it out completely than getting a half-baked version of both.

What I understood was Marvel wanted the cave scenes, Joss didnt. Joss wanted the farm scenes, Marvel didnt. Marvel would only allow Joss to put in the Farm scenes if he also put in the Cave scenes.

as for
QS death, I would have prefered if he didnt die.

Those are the things that we know about. But I'm guessing the final battle suffered a lot of cuts. For instance, we almost never see vision in action and a cap scene where he has no shield was cut too.

And another thing, we do have in the trailer a scene of Banner beginning to hulk out.

A lot of things changed during post-production. I'm guessing they shot alternate scenes for alternate developments of the story like with the alternate ending, if the process of post production demanded of it.

Not everyone is saying its a step down from the first. Personally I feel like its even better. And I've seen a lot of people say that.

Agreed. I said this on another thread but I watched Movie Bob's review, and I thought he hit the nail on the head. Everyone knows the Godfather as one of the all time classic movies that received tons of notoriety, but fans of that series think that the Godfather Part 2 was the better story (including me). And that's how it is with Avengers Age of Ultron.

Everyone is going to remember Avengers as the event film of the 2010's. It's going to hold the records for quite some time, and everyone remembers the jokes, I still see people walking around with Shawarma tee shirts. It was a cultural phenomenon.

But Age of Ultron is a deeper, more representative film of the Avengers. There was so much SHIELD stuff in A1 that it sort of overshadowed the Avengers in a way. SHIELD was never a big part of Avengers in the comics. They'd come along every so often, but it was much more about the team. That's what we get in this movie.

Those are just some of the disagreements he revealed via the podcast. There were more since he was already "beaten down" when he got to them, we just haven't heard them [yet].

I really hope he keeps talking.

Film is an art form made possible by artists - not by the businessmen who make millions off the artists.

An artist can make millions without the suits. The suits can't.

it's a team effort actually... Fiege is an artist in his own right.. he's just not a man with money...

and lets not kid ourselves.. adapted franchise films are far less "Artistic" than the single film spearheaded by the director to be made... this is the studio wanting films made... and finding a director they see fit to share their vision... not the other way around.

we honestly wouldn't have the MCU without both the suits, and the great directors and actors they've hired... it's a massive team effort.. if you see t any other way, well...

I agree, but I do wish that scene of J.J. in the spidey suit was left in the theatrical cut. That was freaking hilarious!
