Nah. Batman should be older than Superman.

I think it'll depend on how WB wants everything to be creatively and moviewise. Do they want an older actor around for more Batman movies and being deemed too old in the process? I personally think a younger actor for a newer generation (even though by that time TDKR will still be our newish generation ) should be picked. Someone who will last for a long time.

And I don't get this talk of Batman being established in the reboot, means having to be played by an older actor. That doesn't need to happen at all.

he doesn't have to be elderly to be older. And an established Batman in a reboot is because everyone already knows how Batman came to be. We don't need another origin movie. (Though I myself would like to see something more like SHAMAN from Legends of the Dark Knight) I would rather see a well done live action series than another movie. That way you can start the whole thing over again. I would like to see a more true to the comics version of Batman and a tv series gives room for alot more story wise than a movie does. Have the first season build up to him becoming Batman. Show alot more of his different types of training. Not just fighting styles. His detective skills, escapism, meditation training, all that good stuff that the movies haven't even touched. Season one can be about him becoming batman. Season 2 would be about him establishing himself as Batman. Getting in good standing with Gordon, creating a plan to take down the mob (which would include a little seen in a chemical plant with a "Hooded" villain). Each season can introduce a big named villain. So many villains and supporting characters to play around with. Heck if a crappy show like Smallville can go 10 seasons, imagine what they could do with a Batman series with a long run like that.

I like the idea of Sharlto Copley as the Joker. I still think Timothy Dalton is the perfect Alfred though. I like the idea of a man known for playing a secret agent as Alfred. Alfred's character is very smooth and very influenced by his past as a field medic and (in some continuities) a secret agent background. I'd like to see someone bring out that side of the character.

I really like the idea of Dalton as Alfred and the nod to his secret agent backstory. However, Alfred having a military/espionage background is not unprecedented in the recent live-action films. Alfred's mercenary(?) background was notably referred to in The Dark Knight. Also, I believe Michael Caine was cast with his previous cinematic credits such as The Ipcress File in mind to give Alfred's secret agent past believability.

Not trying to open a debate or anything, but speaking of openly gay actors, I always felt Matt Bomer would be a better fit for Bruce Wayne than Clark Kent, despite his name being constantly brought up on the Superman boards. He's got a natural darkness to him in the same way Henry Cavill has a natural wholesomeness, imo. Plus, I feel like height is less of an issue with Batman than Superman, since he's always the ~figure in the shadows~ and all that. He's taller than Michael Keaton, after all.

Wes Bentley's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I like it.

The first scene should be him rising in the shadows and just with a few punches and kick fighting off a streetgang.

I'd prefer an actor and a Batman a little older than Cavill's Superman. Say around 35 or something. And WB will want young(ish) actors to keep it going for a while.
