Will you be excited about Nolan's Non-Batman films in the future?

  • Yes! He's a great director.

  • No! I like Nolan because of Batman.

  • Ehh, it depends on the movie.

The Howard Hughes movie will be the 180 in his career, in my opinion.
 
Isn't Nolan working on a another thriller, and a horror flick too? On top of the Inception video game?
 
I'm still hoping he does a Prisoner movie at some point.

I was JUST THINKING THIS EARLIER IN THE MORNING. I dig his flicks, but I'd like to see him move away from crime movies at least once or twice. I'd love to see his Howard Hughes biopic. I think The Aviator was good, not great...and while I don't think it's necessarily THOUROUGH in exploring his Hughes mind and motivation, it is quite encompassing in the sense that it does touch upon the all the big events of 20 crucial years of his life.

I think Nolan, given his past work, would also follow the 'obsession' angle, but perhaps go a little deeper than Scorcese may have...maybe.

Interesting times ahead, though.

He's way off. At its heart Inception is a love story b/w the characters Arthur and Eames. In the film, its clear they have a history. Arthur is the more introverted one, but despite their painful history he has been keeping tabs on Eames b/c he tells Dom that he's in Mumbasa. But when Dom puts his team together, their old feelings come back and sparks start flying. If you watch the film its clear there's something going on b/w these two. He even goes so far as to state "You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling" and "security is going to run you down hard"

But Arthur is in denial about his feelings towards Eames. I suspect b/c of their history. He even has to reaffirm his sexuality to himself by tricking a kiss from Ariadne. I think by calling this film asexual, Gilliam misses the boat. The sexuality isn't blatant and explicit but its definitely there.

Of course Gilliam is off. He's a senile old fool. I say this as someone who enjoys a number of his films. But he is always SO bitter:wow:

He bashes anyone whos had commercial success. He says they just don't take risks like him.:whatever:

His movies usually flop and he has a hard time getting funding. I feel sorry for him because I do think he has a lot of vision but he's become totally bitter towards anyone who he deems 'commercial.' His Spielberg bashing is so annoying. He apparently bashed TinTin as well, no surprise coming from the ancient troll of cinema.

Yeah, quite old. It is interesting though. I love how this will be Bruce Wayne's story.

Thank you so much, Chris. I know you'll never read this, but this MTV footage made me cry tonight. You've put your all into this one - I can just feel it. Thank you for showing us how much you love movies, and sharing your love for what movies should be, and can be.

I never thought I'd see the day where I was proven by Nolan himself how much TDK and Inception look like small potatoes compared to this.

Nolan's a genius and one of the greatest directors alive. It's simply undeniable. :wow:

Thank you for making the movie I've been waiting for my entire life. I've been a Batman fan since 1989, when my parents took me to see Burton's film when I was only 2 years old. I remember that experience, even at 2. Since then, my passion for this character has never stopped, and has grown bigger and bigger, to the point where Batman will always be a huge part of my life. And now, more than ever, this is the first time where I've truly felt like that 2 year old again, my eyes wide, looking at the screen in front of me, taking it all it in for the first time again, seeing this magical world that feels so real, yet is so fantastic.

The man continues to outdo himself in every way.
How does he do it!?!

I feel like in his mind, he's already got the greatest, biggest, wildest movie of all-time planned, but he's taking baby steps to get there.

There's NO WAY he was making Inception and he said to himself, "I'm going to go bigger," and then he just freakin' DOES it. The man is truly untouchable.

He loves movies so much - his work just oozes his love.

I can't wait for the day where we see just how big he's truly planning to go. I can't even fathom it.

No hyperbole here. Screw that word.
 
Christopher Jonathan James Nolan, you are one classy, cool, badass, dominant, INSPIRING filmmaker. You've got the world's attention.
 
How was the MTV footage any better than anything else we've seen in trailers and or tv spots? :confused:
 
Oh, I agree. But it really doesn't espouse anything new in regards to Nolan's abilities as a director.

It's this kind of unwarranted hysteria that - unfortunately - turns people off of his films.

Dude, if you weren't completely freaking out over these new Catwoman scenes and that shot of Bane from behind, I don't know what to tell you.

"Don't be shy."

"He's behind you."
"Who?"
"Me."

Those two snippets alone were more for me than any of the trailers we've gotten so far. Catwoman was the biggest "?" for me until tonight. Now my excitement is at an all-time high, and this is unquestionably the most excited I've ever been for a movie, in my life.

The prologue and the first full trailer seemed to have the most jaw-dropping moments I've seen yet. And we're the best presented as well.

Oh, I'm not referring to the movie, I'm referring to the MTV spot.

If you were posting all of this about the actual movie, it would be thoroughly deserved, I'm quite sure.

But it's the stuff that we are finally getting with Catwoman and more of Batman in action that is really stirring the pot of anticipation right now.
 
Eh, Bane's Vader-like presence and the overthrowing of Gotham as inspired by A Tale of Two Cities is by far the most exciting and impressive thing abut the movie so far for me.

I appreciate Nolan as a very talented director and I consider his movies works of art. I appreciate all he's done and given to us as lovers of cinema and fans of Batman. Particularly his take on the Batman universe.
 
hopefully Sony/MGM grants Nolan the chance to direct a James Bond film in the future
