The Dark Knight Rises The Christopher Nolan Thread

Will you be excited about Nolan's Non-Batman films in the future?

  • Yes! He's a great director.

  • No! I like Nolan because of Batman.

  • Ehh, it depends on the movie.

Oh, I agree. But it really doesn't espouse anything new in regards to Nolan's abilities as a director.

It's this kind of unwarranted hysteria that - unfortunately - turns people off of his films.
It would only possibly turn off people who follow movies and/or comic book movies. Your average Joe only knows that he likes Nolan's films. There's no hysterical fan backlash if people don't know about the hysterical fans. :cwink:

I do agree that it's almost frightening to think of how good he CAN be in the future, if he's only 41 now. :wow:

No, I was purely referring to people on here.

Nolan really should make Bond 24, but before that a little personal project. Why not Mr Hughes? As long as it's far removed from The Aviator & Beatty's project (what's the deal with that anway), I'll be glad.

I think with this track record, he's one of the very few directors who can do whatever he wants.

Remember, in +- 15 years he went from Doodlebug to The Dark Knight rises. And he has become my favourite director, together with Scorcese & Spielberg. Who also have used the same actors multiple times. :o

I don't believe he's making the Hughes movie anymore since he incorporated it into this movie.

 Because Bruce has been a recluse for 8 years? I think Hughes at the end of his life was... something else entirely.

But if he won't make Mr Hughes, what IS next, then, gentlemen & women?

I'd prefer he do something of his own with a big budget, like inception. Do a couple of these then he can do another franchise or whatever.

:yay:

He should do another small scale movie too, IMHO, and why not with mostly unknown actors?

Besides, that'll make the "Nolun no make original moviez so suckorz he is"-crowd shut up. Maybe we should contact him, you know, with ideas? :cwink:

Nolan doesn't make original films? Are those coming from David Fincher fans? :oldrazz:

I can't imagine any group of people having a legitamate criticism about Nolan specifically not making enough "original" movies. Considering most projects are based off novels, plays or previous films and he just got done getting WB to heavily finance and market his own original idea and making it out to be a pretty commercially, critically and culturally significant venture. That feat is probably still the most impressive thing I've seen from him...even if he manages to hit 200 OW without 3d tickets.

According to imdb he will write a story for Batman reboot along with David Goyer and Darren Aronofsky in director's chair....

I know never trust imdb but it sounds so cool

So, I take it some of the chalk bat emblems in the movie were drawn by Chris himself?

I could listen to Nolan talk about movies for days. He's like Spielberg in that he just loves movies and loves talking about them. He's brilliant about them too

Nolan is one of those directors that understands how to make a great film. He doesn't rush himself, he plans out the story first and then gets the actors and the crew he needs to execute said story. He's truly one of this generation's great directors, and we should treasure the joy he gives us through his films.

Feel like it's a good time to bring this up again.

Didn't get to have a conversation with him, but it still boggles my mind that I somehow had the chance to personally meet one of the best directors of our generation. His name will be handed down like the greats before him and I can always tell people I had the privilege to meet him.

And I oughta print and frame this son of a ***** on my wall.

SpideyFan you're one lucky guy.

So I just finished watching The Prestige (don't know how many times I've watched it) and I have to say I really think it's my favourite non-Batman Nolan film. It gets better everytime I watch it.

I watched Inception last night (which I still absolutely love) but there's something about it that doesn't compare to The Prestige.

If I had to rank my favourite Nolan films:

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Prestige
Inception
Memento
Insomnia

I have Memento so low cause I've only seen it once and I can't buy it ANYWHERE in Australia haven't seen Following either.

It's Sunday... time to attend the Church of Nolan guys! See you all there :awesome:

Will you come over to Marion's/Batman jr.'s loft after Church, then? She'll make coffee, just let me know. I'll go to the bakery.

Oh, you bring the cigarettes, she's down to her last one.

I love Insomnia and I think its a very underrated movie
