Is Metropolis supposed to be up here in the Northeast or over in the Midwest, because I get confused?

In the comics (and DCEU, surprisingly - Snyder ignored so much about the comics but kept that lol), it's in Delaware, across the Delaware bay from Gotham in New Jersey. Because remember, in the DC universe, all the major real-life cities like NYC and Chicago ALSO exist, so they can't be the "replacements" for those cities. Earth Prime in the DC Universe is literally a bigger planet with a larger population for that reason.

However, TV shows often like to make it a Midwestern city. So who knows this go-round. A part of me thinks Gunn will go with the whole Midwestern thing since they're shooting in the city where Supes was born and all that.

Very encouraged by the set pics of Metropolis so far. Love the look they've gone for. I'm gonna need a Clark & Lois reveal asap though.

Makes me wonder what the new music score is going to sound like? Like, pure orchestral or maybe a bit more WW2 era

Nothing crazy revolutionary about some of the DP set pictures, matches the aesthetic of some previously seen live action iterations with that grand look with a lot of brass/golden appearance.

The biggest thing for me is more what the rest of Metropolis looks like as well as wider shots of the city. I want to look at a wide shot of Metropolis & almost immediately know it's a fictional city because of how bright, grand, unique & modern some of the cities architecture is, I've not had that feeling looking at a live action portray of a fictional city since some of the portrayals of Gotham City in Batman, Returns, Forever & B&R.

A BIG problem with the DCEU imo is that it just seemed like a pretty miserable place.

That’s an unfortunate byproduct of Zack Snyder characterizing his version of Clark Kent/Superman as such a constantly unhappy, depressed and cynical individual. The problem is, realistically, if he lived in our world, him being the way he is wouldn’t follow logically. Our world can get pretty bad, though not to that level, but it is also balanced with some pretty good stuff, too. If a normal person passed him on the street, they would be like, “Are you okay, bro?“.

So, what did Snyder do to justify his decision? Make his DC Universe so unbelievably and unrealistically oppressive and dark and all of its denizens so miserable and unlikable to the point of being beyond parody. Like, it is so down in the dumps, I am surprised people are even still living there or even possess the emotional and mental health and fortitude to still even be alive. All of those therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and counselors must really be working overtime and getting some really good business. :funny::hehe:

Whenever I see comments from Snyder cultists about how realistic Zack’s DC Universe, it always makes me lol and/or roll my eyes so far into the back of my head. Discounting all the superhuman and super heroic feats, there is nothing realistic about the world of those movies. They are fantasies of a teenage edgelord trying to justify their worldview of how “unfair” the world is. There is a reason they get parodied so much.

I love seeing this; the DCU universe has so much personality from a basic map alone. And that they're so spread out. This is actually a bit different from the version I'm used to seeing (below)

Makes more sense to me to have Green Arrow / Star City up in Washington state as opposed to northern California. But I like that the map below also includes real cities--for example, I like WW in DC more than Gateway City (I actually don't know if I knew that was a home base for her?)

Funny thing is, I'd have more anxiety living in Metropolis than I would Gotham. At least in Gotham, you expect for some crazy mess to happen but in Metropolis, you could be chilling at Ace o Clubs having a drink then all of a sudden homeboy pops up:

I love going back and watching that Doomsday fight on YouTube. Death of Superman and Reign of Supermen had to be the best thing that era of animated movies put out.

Those were pretty good!

I still have Superman: Doomsday in my heart though. The Doomsday fight was brutal and I thought Anne Heche did a marvelous job as Lois.

I have a business degree in undergrad. So obviously I went to law school.

Because we don’t stay in our undergraduate fields of study
Oh yeah, I did nothing with the journo under grad. Ended up doing a masters and becoming a therapist... which is kinda similar. Like, I'm still digging around for the truth... I'm just digging through peoples psyche instead 😅

And that still does not make me wanna live there 😂
