The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

I have no clue how it will go, but if I had to guess, it will most likely have some of the new theme overlayed with shots of Superman performing some big saves.

And probably some Shots of Clark, Lois, the DP, Lex, and the man in black as well.

The other heroes? No idea, he may or may not include them in the first trailer.
If it were me, I'd make the first one focus on Superman and have the other heroes in the next trailers, but it aint me, so who knows.

Gunn is a super geek like us, and loves a good shirt rip, so I won't be surprised if that's teased at the end.
a close up of two hands reaching for the shirt, we see a tie, it flutters down toward the ground, then the screen fades to black, logo appears. 2025.

So yeah, I fully expect this trailer to hit most of us right in the feels.
It's going to be David centric with a dash of Hoults Luthor me thinks. Corenswet will be front and center.

That Fandango poll is consistently (and notoriously) off every year.

Their 2023 list didn't even include Barbie or Oppenheimer but it had The Super Mario Bros. Movie (the second biggest film that year) in 10th place and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (one of that year's biggest flops) in 5th.

At that time, many brought up how laughably off that was for Mario. The anticipation was already that it would win 2023 which it damn-near did.

Absolute non-story for a slow news-cycle. Superman will be fine.
It means exactly nothing, but it's online narrative. You can change that by doing something. Like not waiting too much longer to release a highly anticipated trailer.

Crisp Benjamin to the trailer dropping Christmas Day or a day or two prior. It just makes sense. Eh. You gotta go into them holidays with Superman in them bald minds.

So Snyder says the tone will be Ozzy Osborne or the Sex Pistols? Popular punk rockers of the 70s. Interesting to say the least if true.

Sneider says the press will be shown the trailer on Monday at an event on the WB lot. Trailer will debut publicly a few days later.

A press screening for a trailer…… I can imagine all the tweets that will be on Social media platforms after this. I am going dark for sure.

It should be set to "Police on my back" by the Clash and feature Supes fleeing the cops

Sony Marvel struggles because it doesn’t have Disney behind it. Disney and its platforms gives Marvel films an automatic advantage over all the competition especially 4 quadrant movies. I am still shocked that the Marvels bombed so badly. The Disney name kept it from bombing like Joker 2. The best example of this is a rated R Deadpool movie with Wolverine. Two box office characters that never cracked a billion destroys the all time record for rated R movies with the Disney bump.
I think @routhman's point is that the general public is much less familiar, not to mention concerned with all the various distinctions between brands like Marvel Studios (Disney), Marvel (Sony), DC (WBD), etc., than we are. For example: When 20th Century Fox was still in business, you would have been hard-pressed to find casual fans applying the term Foxverse to the X-Men films. Rather, they would just say something like, "I'm going to check out the latest Marvel movie." General audiences tend to lump all comic book films together, and since Marvel (Disney) was largely successful in its heyday, it sort of became the face of all these different brands and properties. That's just the nature of the beast. Once an IP achieves a certain level of success, it crosses over into the mainstream. One indication is when it becomes a talking point for casual viewers in the most unlikely places: Your wife will switch on The View and hear someone mention your favorite superhero actor with reverence. Just the other day, I saw Ali Larter's character from Landman make fun of another character in the show by derogatorily likening her name to an unspecified Marvel hero.

Don't get me wrong. The DCEU probably distinguished itself as a brand apart from Marvel more successfully than Sony or Fox ever did, but it still never managed to become this huge cultural phenomenon. Actually, go ahead and scratch that. Insofar as DC films are concerned, you know what matters even more to casual viewers than some all-encompassing brand? Intellectual properties, namely Batman and Superman. Don't believe me? Okay. Ask yourself another question. Which one of the following statements is most likely to be heard by someone who doesn't regularly follow comic book movies or shows? "That new DC film with Robert Pattinson was effing incredible!" or "That new Batman movie with the guy from Twilight was an absolute banger!" In 90% of cases, it's choice two.

Along those lines, the DC [films] brand hasn't suffered any real, lasting harm because it was never that big of a thing in the collective consciousness to begin with. Moreover, casual viewers who didn't enjoy the Snyderverse films or Joker 2 are more likely to associate their experience with the actors rather than a logo that flashes by at the start of a movie. (The new DCU logo, by the way, is much more eye-catching and memorable than the previous one, IMO.) Final thought: I firmly believe that people will show up for Superman, provided that it's well-produced and effectively marketed to the appropriate demographic groups. The release date and superhero fatigue are my only major concerns.

I'd also like to see some scenery setting shots too, to establish this version of Metropolis.
It will hopefully be completely different to other Superman trailers we've seen before though.
Brilliant profile pic btw.. :legacy:

Thanks man! It popped in my head last night and had to create it. I know it's blasphemy to put those two logos together because apparently it's not allowed..but I allow it, because I'm a Superman cultist, what can I say lol. I'm tired of the division. This is my approach.

I attached the image file for a look-see:

I suggested it months ago but I would love Refused - New Noise to be the trailer song (yes it was used in The Bear but the song is to cool not to use) It's got such a great build up sound and then bam into some mad punk but if it's old school I could see something like The Ramones - Hey ho let's go but I feel even that is a bit simple for Gunn

Perhaps something from The Stooges or MC5 - Kick out the jams

Gunn better get ta steppin. Fandago did a survey of the most anticipated films for their users in 2025 and Superman came in at 9/10. Now is the time to strike..

.. like, anything.
I don’t buy that, or any, online survey at all. Especially for this film where there likely are Snyder guys trying to sabotage marketing.

Sneider is so dumb he even sucks at music. In no universe is Ozzy Osbourne punk rock. He is, in every incarnation, heavy metal. Hell you could argue he helped create the genre.
