I just hope the film is taken seriously as a whole. Given Corenswet's costume, I'd say maybe not, but I could be wrong. Baggy suit and larger trunks comes across as silly. I was looking at Tyler's Max Fleischer costume the other day, and noticing the red underwear which you can't help but notice and it is almost laughable.

It is amazing how people can have such varying opinions. Because:
I absolutely…positively…completely…1000%…could not disagree more with this statement.
To me, when people change up the suit and remove trunks, or put tons of padding, or mute the colors, it’s a red flag that they are embarrassed of one of the greatest fictional characters in literature. Anyone who is ashamed of the cheesy aspect of Superman probably shouldn’t be helming a movie about him.

But to each his own.

Can you imagine the reaction if Gunn took a page out of Nolan's book where the teaser is nothing more than just a few dialog played in the background of the Superman Shield?

I still think that was one of the best teasers of all time. But it was a sequel, so the hero and the world was already established and the first film had tons of goodwill built up.

They didn’t try that with Batman Begins. Instead, the first tease of the film was probably five minutes of footage that aired after an episode of Smallville and it instantly built up anticipation. I still remember that that footage showed Bruce in the batcave being swarmed with the bats, and my wife looked at me and said “that may be the coolest movie shot I’ve ever seen!”

This is a new movie universe and a new take on Superman. The more they give you in the teaser, the better.

He most certainly didn't have 100% control of the marketing or even the making for his first huge studio feature otherwise Katie Holmes wouldn't be in the movie.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I know it's all part of building the hype but I hate the idea of screening the trailer early for press. Unless they NA anything beyond it's good/bad reactions but then what's the point of doing a press event?

I believe that the press event will be about more than just the Superman trailer.

It's likely going to be an update and refresher of the previous press conference that Gunn had two years ago.

What if the trailer starts with Superman on the moon saying “here boy” and Krypto, on earth, is flying through stuff to get to the moon. He flies around Lois, Luther, other heroes. birds, planes, spaceships ect and then the trailer ends with Supes saying “good boy” and it ends with the back shot of Krypto and Supes on the moon looking at earth. I think that would be cute and superhero fans would hate it.

This statement drums up bad memories of BvS and ghost Pa Kent in the arctic giving Clark the “hero cake” lecture about how trying to help people is a worthless endeavor.

Yea i could buy that.Dont think its gonna be what they do with it but it would be a fun idea for a teaser.

I see lots of posters want to see Superman flying, fighting, talking ect, they also want lots of Lex, Clark and Lois, the DCU slate all in one trailer. I just want to get a tease of Supes world. Don’t ruin the movie with showing to much in these trailers. I trust Gunn won’t.

You're entitled to your opinion. We can agree to disagree. Seems so toxic just because someone has a different opinion for yours. And I'm not saying I'm ashamed of Superman at all. I love the character. And I'm not the only one that has opinion about the red trunks. I mean honestly, if you do look at Hoechiln's Max Fleshier suit, the red trunks are very distinct. So were Routh's red trunks, especially the Kingdom Come suit, which is a great Superman suit, but I have to admit the red trunks on his suit were very on-the-nose.

The classic suit looks great in the comics or animation, but on film, I just think there are ways to make it look better and I liked Cavill's suit. It looks classic and modern. Reeve had a great suit, but the only problem was, you couldn't see his muscles when he wore the costume, even though Reeve did build himself up, contrary to popular belief, Reeve was not skinny. Also, it's not like Superman's blue color hasn't been muted before if you look at Dean Cain's suit, he had a dark blue color. In STAS, it was similar.

I think Tyler's modern Superman suit was fine, except I think the belt needed to be yellow or look similar to Cavill's yellow belt buckle, as they weren't using the red trunks. The only issue with Tyler's suit for me was that there wasn't enough color balance. There was too much red, and it needed more yellow.

Sometimes simplicity is best. With the right actor and take, the basic homemade spandex suit still works.

I'm pro trunks for the same reason I'm pro Superman being dorky and saving cats from trees - I enjoy the somewhat 'cheesy' (to some people) tone of Superman. Embracing that by including the trunks, as well as other often avoided/amended aspects of the character, feels like an act of rebellion against the idea you have to have heroes be dark and brooding to bring in an audience.

I'm so-so either way. 50/50 as long as it looks good and it works. I loved all of Tyler's suits. He wore them well, but that padding really was a wet blanket for me. But Tyler was great enough to overlook it. Took me out of it at times. I think he looked his best without the muscle suit in his first appearances on Supergirl.

The hard plastic \S/ shield that clearly poked into the padding whenever he raised his arms drove me nuts on that one, but aside from that, I agree.
