The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

YouTube recommended me an AI generated man of steel sequel trailer and it was just Henry in a black and white suit glaring at people. Imagine having technology that can generate any image you want and your imagination can only take you that far? Very sad.

Very glad we’re going in this direction.

Oh while we’re waiting let’s have a chat about Dan Slott joining the Superman creative comics team. Are you excited? I think he will be fun and very interesting leading up to the movie

When this movie had the Legacy subtitle I automatically assumed it was going to end with Supergirl being introduced. Seemed thematically relevant.

So, THR confirmed that Milliy Alcock wiil appear in 'Superman'
“Confirmed” might just be a safe assumption. It had been reported that Alcock-as-Supergirl would appear (guest star/cameo) in a live-action DCU production before Woman of Tomorrow. But logistically, there are only two viable options: Superman or the second season of Peacemaker. And if you think the latter is unlikely, then Superman is the default.

I'm just going by what THR reported. The text states:

Alcock was picked as Supergirl almost a year ago and will first appear in Gunn’s Superman movie.

Come on, guys. It's not that complicated. Supergirl will show up in Superman, one way or another.

That makes sense, I think if you look at what they’re doing with My Adventures With Superman, that’ll give a vague plan of their hopes for the movie franchise

As the world prepares for the cinematic return of Clark Kent’s alter ego with July 11’s release of Superman, DC has announced plans for the 'Summer of Superman' — what it’s describing as “a celebration of the Man of Steel’s legacy as a pop culture icon, a symbol of truth and justice, and his first-ever comic book appearance” — with special comic book releases, promotional events, and more to be unveiled across the coming months.

Superman Day 2025

The centerpiece of the event is April 18’s Superman Day, which marks the anniversary of the publication of 1938’s Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Superman. Participating retailers will have exclusive editions of classic Superman comic books available on that day, including:

  1. All Star Superman Deluxe Superman Day Edition HC with a new dust jacket featuring Frank Quitely art Superman Unchained
  2. Deluxe Superman Day Edition HC with a new dust jacket featuring Jim Lee art
  3. All Star Superman #1 Special Edition
  4. Superman For All Seasons Book One Special Edition
  5. Jimmy Olsen’s Supercyclopedia YA OGN Preview Edition
  6. Action Comics Golden-Age Size Facsimile Edition featuring new art by Dan Mora
(The first two are bookseller, mass market, and online retailer exclusive; the final four are comic store exclusive.)

Beyond that, “Superman-curated content” will be available on subscription service DC Universe Infinite, according to DC.

Summer of Superman in Comic Books

There’s also a lot of brand-new Superman comic book action — get it? Because the title of his debut comic was… Oh, you were therebefore me — coming to fans this summer. In addition to the already announced Superman Unlimited series launch in May, DC has the following on tap across coming months:

Action Comics #1085: G. Willow Wilson and Gavin Guidry step onboard the series for a two-part storyline that closes out the ‘Superman Superstars’ run of guest creators on the long-running series, as Lois Lane sends Superman on a mission to the Arctic that goes very, very wrong. (April 9)

Summer of Superman Special #1: Co-written by Dan Slott, Joshua Williamson and Mark Waid with art from Jorge Jiménez, the oversized issue features the wedding of John Henry Irons and Lana Lang, as well as the emergence of new threats for the entire Super-family. (April 16)

Superman #25: Lex Luthor is back (from amnesia and a trip to wanting to be a better person) in this anniversary issue by Williamson and artists Dan Mora, Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira. What will that mean for Superman, Superwoman, and Supercorp? I mean… almost nothing good. It’s Lex Luthor, after all. (April 23) Superman: The World HC: Following the tradition of Batman: The World and Joker: The World, this is a massive anthology of cartoonists and creators from 15 different countries, each offering a story of the Man of Steel set in their native countries. Dan Jurgen’s and Lee Weeks are the US team, with other creators coming from Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Turkey, Indian, Cameroon, Poland, the Czech and Slovak Republics, and Argentina. (June 24)

Superman’s Good Guy Gang: The first in an early-readers series aimed at kids aged 5-7, Rob Justus writes and draws a book in which Clark Kent is eight years old, and hangs out with Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl… (July 1)

DC promises more 'Summer of Superman' announcements in the coming weeks and months, After all, summer is still a few months away…

People can criticize Gunn as a director, but as an ambassador to comic books he's doing a fantastic job imo.
