Hi guys and gals,
Been a lurker on these boards since after BB re-ignited my love of all things caped and cowled, finally decided to sign up today.
Re: The lazarus pit debate, I've seen the following idea mentioned before but I'd like to expand upon it if I may:
The lazarus pit is simply a 'gimmick' that Ra's uses to enhance his 'legendary' status amongst the LoS members (i.e. his minions/the LoS 'infantry'). So whilst we, the viewer, know it's not actually a supernatural pit of goo, everyone but Ra's thinks it genuinely has some healing/mystical properties.
I think this way Nolan has covered the more fantastic elements from the comics and kept it within his 'heightened realism' framework, whilst also making Ra's look even more of a mastermind than he did in BB
EDIT: Also, apologies to whoever I stole/slightly altered the above idea from lol

Think Lord Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes, and the way he makes it appear that he has mystical powers to frighten people into joining his cause
