DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Did I say that? Regardless of 84, its still be massively successful for the studio with the first film still being well received. If both Gunn/Reeves got all those spin-offs and power after 1 film, why didnt Jenkins?

I don’t know what you mean.

The Batman made money. WW84 didn’t; and the first film was almost 6 years ago…

Has Gadot or Jenkins done anything since 2017 that would inspire confidence?

The Batman is the first film.

Wonder Woman....who is not Batman...in her FIRST FEATURE film made more money than The Batman.

Wonder Woman 1984 came out at the HEIGHT of COVID. It still managed massive numbers for HBO Max and was one of the top selling films on home media.

So yes tell me how that makes sense.

Tell me how Aquaman that made $1billion didnt get his spin off movie.

Tell me how James Gunn...whose film didnt perform well at the box office got a spin off?

From October 7th at an Italian film festival.

Jenkins was a guest interview:

"And so, where I said that I was only going to do one, then oh my god, I have to do two. And then, I find myself saying, ‘Oh my god, I’m antsy to do three.’ And so, even now, I say, ‘That’s it’ because I always plan a three-movie arc. There is a story that goes through these three different movies as a whole. But even now, I just wrote last week the final scene of Wonder Woman 3 and I thought, I might be interested to see what happens next. So you’ll never know. They have asked us to think of ways to do more and it accidentally happens. But you’ll never know. I have a lot of other films that I’m excited to do as well. And I love Gal Gadot so that makes it better too."

I would let Patty finish her arch and then reboot, it seems fair to me, but eh one never knows.

That's kind of a self-defeating prophecy. What did they truly do before Wonder Woman to inspire confidence on that level?

Maybe. Timothy Dalton was actually offered the role to become Bond after Sean Connery, but turned it down because at the time he thought he was too young for the role. It is possible they could revisit him to fill 007's shoes.

That said, I personally am pulling for Tom Hiddleston to be the next Bond.

Dear Baby Jesus,

Please take me now.

And call Tim Robbins and tell him I banged Susan Sarandon, he'll know what it means.

Yes, it was a major theatrical release that was relegated to home streaming. And thusly got viewership on Christmas Day. At the height of COVID, no less. What else was anyone doing?

So, pause on Superman and Wonder Woman, two of DC's stalwarts, but continue on with the spinoff from the box office bomb.

Sounds about WBD.

Still havent answered my question why Patty or James Wan were never given the same treatment as Gunn or Reeves.

You also brought money into this so also tell me how do you expect a film rleased at the height of COVID to bring in any major money at the box office?

I don’t know, Gunn had a proven critical & fan track record with Marvel and is now running the division.

And Reeves has Batman? And he’s Batman?

So Wonder Woman gets screwed over because....what? She made more than newer Superman and Batman films at the box office?

James Wan who brought WB the highest-grossing horror franchise with The Conjuring at $2.1billion dollars doesnt have a track record?

James Gunn wasnt even running WB when he got to expand to Peacemaker.

Not to get in the middle of this duel. To me it seems like DC new boss found his ''Feige'' in Gunn. A nerd with enough ''cb knowledge'' and mcu box office glory. His Skwad movie didn't make mulah, but it was enough well liked to merit his spinoff imo. For better and worse, WB seems to be all in for real this time and gave him the keys with the exception of a few; Joker 2 and possibly/hopefully The Batman. Jenkins and Wan did earn some kind of grace and or spinoffs, but they always seemed to have their hands full to me. Who really knows if they were truly interested in spinoffs? Wan just signed a deal to make a bunch of horror flicks elsewhere and Jenkins wasted time with that SW movie etc. Gunn wants more work for his wife. :o

Considering they flat out cancelled The Trench...I would say otherwise about him being interested in spin off. Also Patty was very interested in an Amazon spin off as it was to be made between WW2/3 and bridge the Amazons between the first and last films.
