Because the DCEU is a mess and Matt Reeves Batman is outside of it and can be used as a template for a better future.Still havent answered my question why Patty or James Wan were never given the same treatment as Gunn or Reeves.
You also brought money into this so also tell me how do you expect a film rleased at the height of COVID to bring in any major money at the box office?
Sounds like a full-on reboot is coming and I am 100% here for it. Would also make a lot sense with Gunn and Momoa teasing Lobo. He hangs it up as Aquaman and moves into a completely different character.
It's risky, but it's simply the cleanest solution.
Ya'll going to be singin a different tune when and IF Reeves walks away. LIke the head boss implied a few weeks back in that article, there is only going to be one Batman going forward. I dont see Reeves playing well in a different sandbox.
And I'm going to blame two ppl in that room, IF it happens.

“It's a high wire act to do a Batman movie, right? Because the character's been around for 80 years, everyone has their own version in their head and there have been great movies. The last thing I wanted to do was come in there and feel like I had to do something with the highest degree of difficulty and then also find the ways that it connects to everything else. My thing was, from the beginning, I said, "Look, I think it's enough to try and just do a bat verse, to do a Batman movie," and that that's where this begins.
I suppose it's not impossible to believe that somewhere down the line, they could connect to something else, but that was not my interest in this, and it's not my interest in what we would do in follow-ups at the moment either. I feel like the whole point in us working with this incredible cast and this incredible crew to realize this movie that sort of, I really believe, is a fresh and different version of these characters is to pursue every ... There are a lot of great characters in the Gotham world and so the idea of leaning into that, that's really my interest right now.”
"You mean if it could? Is that what you're saying? I mean, if something like that did happen, because I was very careful about ... To me, what I try to do is take ... I did this in the Apes films too, and even Cloverfield, this idea of taking the one fantastical element and then have everything around it, so it'll be as grounded as possible, so that it could feel ... I want it to feel emotionally real and to make everything feel very believable. In this movie, even further I think than what I did in those films, I tried to find the practical, believable version. If suddenly in the Batman world, you discovered that there was an alien that was Superman, there'd be a lot of shock. I mean, people would have to say, oh my God, and maybe that would be the one fantastical element.
But to be honest with you, that is not the intention at this point, to figure out how to make that come. Look, we should be so lucky that this is a world that people embrace and that they say, oh my God, we want to see what would happen when those things collide. I think if that challenge ever presents itself, it would be an exciting one to explore, but I'd have to try and do it through this lens. You know what I mean? And that is absolutely right, that at the moment, to me, this world is the place that I want to focus.”

Also James Wan heavily implied before that Aquaman 2 would be his last Aquaman anyway.
Funny enough Peter Safran was the producer of that attempted spin-off.James Wan also attempted to get a spin off film off the ground and they nixed it.
If they were fine with doing a SS spin off, it gives zero reason why others weren't given their chance
Patty made one film y’all don’t like and the pitchforks came out quick. Gahdamn.
Funny enough Peter Safran was the producer of that attempted spin-off.
If they were really going to do a full-on DCU reset, it should've happened after Batman v Superman.
But they pushed on anyway, *Shrug*
So then why restart at all?If I'm not mistaken: Suicide Squad was almost done, Wonder Woman was already in post production and Justice League had begun filming when BvS came out. So they were going forward regardless of that movie's results.
When it was badly received (negatively by critics and mixed by fans), there was still hope because it was not entirely a disappointment at the box office (one would've expected at least a billion for the movie that was reuniting 3 of the 4 most famous superheroes ever, but still made tons of money).
Wonder Woman did amazing both critically and at the box office, so still hopeful.
When Justice League underperformed, that's when alarms really went out and the future of those movies was reconsidered.
But Aquaman was (either in pre production or) already filming so no changes there. Would've been crazy not to give a sequel to WW. And Shazam was a ray of light because it was a fresh idea into this universe that they surely wanted to try. Aquaman came out and, again, there was hope because it did incredible being the highest grossing DCU movie yet. Birds of Prey was nothing too special and on its way to have a similar result than SS...but we know what happened next in the world.
Had WW84 have a theatrical release in a pre-pandemic scenario, I feel it would've been similar to BvS. Mixed to bad opinions but doing very well at the box office. But we only got the former and that's why it feels worse.
What I wanted to point out anyways is that they weren't trying to push on the DCEU just because.
It was because of the exceptions (WW, Aquaman...) that they kept trying.
But the DC stories and characters deserve much better, and I can't wait to see what the future brings for them.
A shame that great castings have to be sacrificed because of it (with Momoa now taking another role) but it is what it is.
Would Reeves really be on board with that?I'm now predicting hard reboot in The Batman's continuity, Reeves to assist Gunn and Saffran creatively.
People expecting Reeves Batman Film in the DCU is pretty presumptuous imo. Even if Reeves agree to that would Pattinson or vice versa? I expect Gunn will just end up creating more division than anything. I like him when he's doing his own material but I never liked his Superhero material personally especially TSS and GOTG2. There's already a #FireJamesGunn hashtag trending LMAO.
James Wan also attempted to get a spin off film off the ground and they nixed it.

Yeah but what has the Snydercult and Black Adam taught us? Lots of noise, lots of hashtags, not muh money at the box office. These people were gunning for "The Batman" as well and trying to bring it down and got nowhere.
More than ever it's becoming apparent that Twitter is not real life.
Jenkins showed with WW1984 that she had bad judgment. She made a movie that had near universal acclaim and then decided to completely reject it and produce a sequel which was nothing like it in the slightest (even in its characterisation of its main character).
I don't think we can discount that WW3 and the Amazons were in all likelihood not good projects. Johns has been the kiss of death for DC projects. For some reason Jenkins chose him as her collaborator. The fact she went with Johns and not Heinberg to help with WW3 again shows poor judgment.
All we have is speculation. It could've been a great movie for all we know. People do learn from their mistakes.
