DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Yes, psy, I saw your post before that mine. No need to repeat yourself in the second one.

Besides, Matrix not doing that well isn't stopping or slowing down Keanu's comeback. If he, Lawrence, and others want to do an R-rated Constantine film- that WBD clearly wants to see happen because why else would they revive it?- obviously they should pursue that.

I notice you only stop at two DC films and conveniently leave out The Batman, probably because it doesn't fit your narrative here that the studio is just producing DC-related flops. Never mind that Black Adam's theatrical run isn't even over, but you do you.

And why would I use The Batman as a measure of potential success for Constantine 2?

Constantine isn't as well known ip as Batman.

But okay, I've now mentioned The Batman in my narrative. As if The Batman is encouraging people to watch Black Adam and other Dc movies....guess what it didn't. Is Constantine 2 going to be in the same universe as The Batman? Yeah probably not...

Darkseid would be ideal. Building up to him would probably be the right move unless for some reason they actually decide to make Snyder’s JL2 and 3.

But I’d say the next JL movie should be about the OMAC Project/Tower of Babel with Amanda Waller/Checkmate as the villain.

I like this - it's different to what Marvel is doing.

I'm not sure Constantine needs to be blonde or English, especially since we've already gotten him not portrayed that way.

David Zaslav On DC Rising, Ad Market Tanking, New Streaming Playbook – Deadline

Zaslav has just straight-up namedropped Batman as an example of DC's previous mistakes to get an interconnected universe like Marvel while reiterating how much he wants that MCU-like universe.

DC: A “hugely undervalued asset. Disney did a wonderful job with Marvel. But if you looked at Marvel and DC ten years ago, you would have said DC is as good or better. But Marvel is a connected universe. It has a ‘bible.’ The key was having one person following everything. All of Marvel is one place. You don’t wake up and find that there has been a Batman TV show someplace.

I'm betting it's either gonna be a Darkseid or Anti-monitor story line.

Crisis and the Anti-Monitor is such an incredibly epic and intricate storyline...which is exactly why I throw up in my mouth a little at the idea of them watering it down and attempting to adapt it (or aspects of it) for film.

Even so, I fully expect Darkseid or Anti-monitor.
I don't know what other storyline or villains they could use that would span 8 to 10 years.
Unless they're planning on making up a brand new villain for film, and that's doubtful.
