DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Jenkins has been notoriously difficult and disconnected. I'm not sure she's a loss for WB. She developed quite the ego following WW's success. Odd, considering she rode the wave of praise after the film and then somewhat disowned it. She hasn't exactly got rival studios knocking on her door.
Do we know what the score is with Jenkins and Gadot's Cleopatra flick? Is that still happening?

Seems like the WW3 situation was Jenkins after walking away from the project after WB brass and DC heads gave her notes on the scriptment. It's sad but not surprising.

I hope whatever plans Gunn/Safran have for WW3 (if one goes into production), that Patty gives her blessing or given the opportunity to direct it if she wants to. Because as one mod said, Patty elicited the best WW performance out of Gal Gadot.

Jenkins is done with DC. That's the only thing that is 100% clear and consistent across all these articles. She's not willing to play ball with Gunn and Safran's plan.

Jenkins is not directing that.

She has no current directing projects lined up.
Ah, I hadn't realised Jenkins had stepped down from directing that - although I now see (Variety) she's supposedly still involved 'in a producing role' (whatever that means).

This. It'll be so frustrating if he doesn't have the large role in the DCEU that was originally planned, but at least let him be a major part of The Flash and get a solid send-off (maybe along the lines of Thomas Wayne Batman in the Flashpoint comic).
Really wish they didn’t even bother bringing him back at this point tbh. Should have saved him for a Batman Beyond film, if that even ever happens!

That article doesn't paint Patty in the best light. And to be honest, its a bit rich for her to lecture other people on the concept of a "character arc" when her arc for Wonder Woman in WW84 involved using a stranger's body as a sex toy because Steve Trevor possessed him.

Sounds like Cavill's greenlight could be a matter of time till they have a pitch they like?

And it's a long shot, but Gadot might be staying too with a different director.

These reports are informative, but they score low on providing a sense of progress with the film plans, as usual. Hoping to be thrown a lil bone next time. I'll settle for "Gunn likes Brainiac".

Interesting. So it basically was Patty Jenkins who left WW3.

Yeah, that's the sense I got from the first trade actually. Patty's script was rejected for whatever reason, and she understandably isn't happy about that. Gal, on the other hand, seems game to work with anyone. lol

Gadot's career outside of WW isn't exactly on fire

.

Eh, not really, bald man. She got that 10mill for that REDNOTICE movie and a sequel is greenlit. Rock talked about filming that in the middle of next year. She is the villain in that Disney Snow White movie next year, and she just finished her own solo secret agent female fatale type movie, a potential as a franchise for netflix, which she produced under her developing company. And if she were to continue as WW, she gets 20million. Tis' all about perception.

If I'm Gunn and Safran and I wasn't planning to hard reboot, this Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman thing would be enough to push me over the edge.

Not really. Gal's status is still a mystery. She's """technically""" attached the same way that Ben Affleck was technically attached to Batman back in 2018.

I think Gal will continue, IF Gunn and co want her too. I don't see her following Jenkins, which I'm sure will get her some kind of hate for not leaving with her. Eh.

Almost everything is on Netflix.

Melissa McCarthy is also a Disney villain.

I'm not sure any of them are done really, it seems like this is a soft reboot than a hard reboot. Because if it was a hard reboot why was they still open to making WW3? They just wanted a rewrite not an outright cancelation. So I dunno, I think there's no definitive answer either way. I will say this tho, if there's still a WW3 being made they better find another female director, because yikes.

I think Ben was gently pushed out to make room for Reeves' vision. But yeah, my remark about Gadot was mostly flippant given her recent tweet. I do think she'll stick around, though, regardless of Patty's involvement.

Netflix stopped being to step child long ago, man. They also now make Oscar type flicks with auteurs and can provide folks with hefty millions for it. The Mouse will make sure that snow white flick is huge, no doubt.

If you can lift your nose at a 10million netflix checks as not having much outside of ww...than salud to you.

From that deadline article:

Will there be a complete reboot of DC’s core stars? One studio insider tells us, “At no point was there any pre-conceived notions of not continuing with these actors. It all boils down to how The Flash (June 16) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (Dec. 25) do at the box office.” Not to mention, the studio doesn’t want Gadot to hang up Wonder Woman’s belt.
