Cavill was ultimately a victim of being caught in a power struggle between Gunn/Safran and The Rock.

Guess you could say he was caught between 'The Rock' and a hard place.

He is a good writer, but is he good enough to write Superman?
Because the writing more than ever needs to work with this one...we need a strong Superman movie.
I dont know if Gunn has it in him...we will see.

I feel sorry for Cavill. I admittedly haven't watched any of his non Superman movies aside from Mission Impossible 6. But he seems like such a nice guy and seems like he could be a proper Superman but has been so jerked around.

Speaking of The Rock, why couldn't he (and others) keep his mouth shut about the after credits scene? I know Henry made that video later, but Dwayne already revealed it. He was basically just saying; "go see Black Adam, Superman is in it!" They only waited a couple of days to ruin that surprise for everyone.

I've never seen that happen with an MCU movie, even in Spider-Man No Way Home they tried to keep everything a secret as long as possible. (And that was actually part of the story, not just a stinger)

Also even if they are happy with Black Adam's performance, I'm sure they realize that the movie itself isn't great...

Nobody knows the plan yet, we dont know how these movies perform and how that plays a role.

And I'm out. Like I wrote in Cavills own thread, I bet Gunn wont recast his wife or the buddies he has worked with in his previous DC projects. What an arrogant *****. I have almost fully given up on the comics that "DC" publishes, and now I can drop the films too.

Little to do with Optimism and more with Realism.
Neither of these movies are a waste of time because they tell a story on their own.
And we dont know how successfull these movies will be.

A Billion Dollar Box Office Aquaman 2 has more weight because then it makes it 2 for 2 and suddenly plans can change.

Like its fine if you only are interested in these movies because of some shared universe stuff, but im interested in these movies on their own.

Sucks for Cavill, really. Dude had potential. Still, a hard reboot is the best call.

I do feel like they (Gunn & Safran) have a big challenge ahead of themselves. Superhero fatigue is real. If they really want to make the brand as big as possible, they can't just replicate Marvel's formula. Storytelling, tone, marketing... they need to differentiate themselves from the competition. So I'm really really curious to see where they're going with this.

On a more positive note, this does have me excited to see Ben Affleck potentially direct a DC movie. Maybe DCU Batman (but obviously a new actor playing Batman)? That would be a real full circle.

I can't say I'm surprised. The writing was on the wall, and when the Patty thing happened, it only solidified it.
( BA bombing didn't help either. )

Now, they are really in a pickle.
Three films are soon coming out that are either directly connected, ( AQ 2 Flash )
or slightly connected ( shazam 2 )
to the snyderverse.
In their defense, they never shown cavill's face in shazam tho, but it was his ( cavill's ) suit.

And BA? I think it is a one and done also ( duh )
What a mess.

For Gunn and Safran's sake, I hope the plan they announce gets fans excited, and their first couple films are the best thing since sliced bread.

Trying to tie in previous continuity into a new one is way too messy for a verse thats been through as much as this one. Start fresh from BB.

I’m all for a full reboot. Cavill as a person seems like a cool guy. But his Superman was so boring and I can barely remember any of his dialogue.

It will be a bad look though if Gunn moves forward with Peacemaker season 2.
