DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Still too absurd for me to believe, but I guess it’s possible. There was a rumor about Bill Hader in the role earlier this week.

With Sgt. Rock still happening without Luca, I’d have an easier time believing Aronofsky was doing that. Just imagining Requiem For a Dream level intensity in a war setting.

I think yea its neat to raise up b listers etc especially POC becuase DC is lacking compared to Marvel on that front in choices but they got equally raise up the big guns i.e trinity to centre everything. If Superman cant get 700mill of the bat you gotta build hype with the big stuff.

Just a thought... Did Henry Cavill ever tweet any good luck/congratulations to David Corenswet for landing the role of Superman? I never heard anything. I don't remember hearing anything from Sasha Calle either when Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl (I know that must have been hard for Calle, her big chance taken away so quickly). I think both Helen Slater and Melissa Benoist congratulated Calle when she was cast.

I thought Calle was quite good as the Superman analog in Flashpoint.
She wasn't the Supergirl I wanted, but I thought she did a really good job with what she was given. If they'd kept her around for a Supergirl solo I'd definitely have paid to see it.

I’m actually ok with this, give them time to find the right creatives. No need to rush them all out.

A flash movie based on the current absolute flash would be fun though, really enjoying that series

James Gunn says not to expect to see The Flash or Aquaman for at least the next 2 years,

Understandable he wants to leave a gap between the previous versions and his own.

Would love to see WW ready in time for a 2027 holiday release…

So 2026 we get Supergirl & Clayface, then in 2027 we get Aronofsky’s Sgt. Rock and a Wonder Woman reboot (set in present day), while the universe is further built up on the TV side with S2 of Creature Commandos, and new shows like Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen (a Daily Planet focused show) and The Terrifics where Mr. Terrific takes on corporate-sponsored metahumans, pitting him against Maxwell Lord and his former teammates.

2028 then sets the stage for Batman’s DCU intro with The Brave and the Bold (not in the same calendar year as Reeves’ sequel) and this mystery crossover/Superman sequel Gunn’s been teasing. On HBO, you get a prestige Paradise Lost series to explore the history of our new WW.

In 3 years of the DCU, we’ll have our Trinity set & we’re off to the races.

Not publicly, but David says he exchanged letters with Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin (which Hoechlin has discussed publicly). Not sure I’ve seen anything from Calle.

With them only doing 2 releases per year it would never be out within the next 2 years anyway.

That is kind of how Superman acts in the Flashpoint comic so it worked for me ;)

Ah, right. Hoechlin does seem a genuinely nice guy.

It can't have been easy for Calle, but it's been a fair while now. I'd have thought her 'people' would have advised her to do it.
