The Election Night Thread - Part 2

You're half right about that.

You're right that no rational person would genuinely think Hillary is worse than Trump. What you fail to take into account is the voters were not being rational. And you know why they weren't being rational?

Because whenever you have the elites of a country disenfranchise their people, and with no end in sight, the people will eventually reach their limit and become desperate. And when they become desperate, they abandon all rationality and kick into fight-or-flight mode. At that stage they'd be willing to vote for any change than no change at all. It's the exact same way people like Hitler and Mussolini rose to power. It might sound shocking people would do that, but it's human nature.

The DNC Establishment disenfranchised their base and took a gamble. They now payed the price.

Why are these morons so desperate? The economy is in relatively good shape. Obama's performance has exceeded that of what Mitt Romney promised.

These people are short sighted bigots.

But hey, they may screw over a ton of helpless people, but when Trump wrecks this economy, their asses will suffer too. Hopefully more. I look forward to that day, when these miserable people lose their jobs and everything.

How are people reacting today? Yesterday was tough and I'm not even an American.

About the same. I suspect it'll die down after a while except for a section of the populous, like when Obama was in. It's like the inverse now.

I'm sad.
My girlfriend is sad.
My coworkers are sad.

Just as a sad day.

Liberals and sane people seem to be in the bargaining stage of grief. Some Republicans seem to be having second thoughts about Trump, but most seem fairly quiet.

And Putin is calling a urologist because his erection has lasted longer than 4 hours.

I never said that I expected or didn't take into account voters to be rational so I don't know why say that at a quote directed at me . I never said I was surprised by a Trump win
Actually from what I posted I stated the opposite

I mean, short of impeachment down the line, we can't do **** about it till his term is up or he gets caught doing something so crazy they relieve him of duty.

8 years ago, W dragged the nation to 2 wars, plus high debts and a tanking economy. Obama took over, and we're in a lot better position than we were before. Trump will do what W Bush has done before him, and it won't be long before the country is again in a state of downward spiral.

I remain amazed. I knew it was closer than they said. But I didn't think there were this man irrational, bigoted people in this country. I really didn't.

I am horrified that people are normalizing what happened. It's like a bad dream and I can't wake up. I thank God that I don't have kids.

I live in NYC, and maybe it's the fact that the weather is cloudy with a chance of rain for part of the day, but it has felt like a dark day overall. I saw some people on the train this morning that looked like they were fighting back tears. I don't know if it was related to the election or not, but the day has definitely felt somewhat somber.

SHOUTING. SCREAMING. REBELLING!

LONG LIVE PUNK ROCK! :slash:

Although I loved the music in the past, it's all the more relevant today.

My boss basically said Trump won because people in metro areas like Chicago claim they're gonna vote and support, while people in farmlands and rural areas with like populations of 50 turn out in droves.

bwhahahaha the level of ******** on social media is comical!

This is what happens when the Democrats ram a corrupted, lying, and unlikeable person like Hilary Clinton down their party's throat!

Had Bernie gotten the nod he would have SMASHED Trump. It would have been worse than Obama vs McCain.

Yes like the butt hurt over Bernie hasn't been around for months

This.

But you forgot criminal and incompetent.

A Trump presidency is gonna affect everywhere, visas and the economy being a particular issue of concern for me, but I can imagine being very apprehensive of how the immediate environment around you will change if you live in the States.

Trump actually got fewer votes than Clinton.

No, this is what happens when white people are scared about their slipping place in the world and attach themselves the nearest person who agrees to shun the world and tells them all it will be okay.

Trump rode the same wave that delivered Brexit. He himself said so months ago. He stood on a golf course in Scotland and bragged that he was surfing the same deluge of fearful, hateful bulls***.

He was right. Here we are.

This.

But you forgot criminal and incompetent.

And that's why America elected a man of integrity and kindness like Donald Trump, a man who will be in court next month for his scam university.

This country just keeps getting dumber.

This is one fo the few times we have agreed this election cycle. Bernie was the only one with the balls to stand up against Hillary and her "inevitable" run. Everyone else wanted to stay out of the way so they could tow the party line and not cause any waves. If we get the Clinton's and Bush's out of political cycle though then chalk it up as a win I guess.

I have even less interest in a President Pence.

Bingo. White fragility screwed all of us over.

Not dumber just showing it more

Look, I don't like Hillary, and she was terrible, etc.. But let's not use her as a scapegoat.

America had a choice and elected a crazy bigot. This is on the country, not her.

Question. Does the public not vote in the primaries?
