They could pull off a PG-13 and still have it be violent. I don't care about profanity and the cgi blood looked terrible. However I want to see them push the envelope. We need as much brutality as we can get.

Stranger things have happened but I find it a little weird that they'd just go along with a ridiculous demand like this. I find it more likely someone would tell Chuck to get bent. It's not like his presence is critical.

And I'm not one to harp on about ratings and I don't often demand or expect an R but this is pretty goddamn stupid. Sure, we have no problems showing people being shot, stabbed, exploded and dismembered but for God's sake don't let the kids hear the eff word!

No ones saying he had control over sly. He said he wouldn't do it if it was an R film and Sly abliged him and chose to make it PG-13. Key being that Sly did it because he wanted Norris in his film. No where does it say anyone was forced to do it. At this point it comes down to how bad Sly wants Norris in the film. If its a lot then we are looking at a PG-13 film.

And to those saying a PG-13 rating would be just fine is missing the principal. The first film was a throwback to 80s action movies. Those movies were rated R and violent. This movie needs to be R and violent otherwise its just another watered down action movie. The market is flooded with those.

Agreed.

I know Live Free or Die Hard inexplicably gets love from a lot of people but I think that the PG:13 rating along with the bad writing and directing killed it. Old school 80's action movies are supposed to be R rated. Robocop was terrible as a PG:13 rated movie. Granted Robocop 3 would have been crap without it but it would have been more watchable than it was.

Same here. In fact, Chuck Norris is the main reason I'm not particularly excited about this movie. Can't stand the guy... can't act for sh**, he's too old to be a believable badass anymore and his idiotic political antics have made him even more of a joke.

If the movie really is PG-13 I wonder if fans will campaign for an R-rated cut. It'll be ridiculous if Stallone gives in to Norris, the latter of whom has never been on the same level of fame as most of the other Action stars and has become such a joke these days.

Just look at the ages of the cast. This movie isn't for the younger crowd anyway, it was never meant to cater to them.

I agree. Just as long as there is no CGI blood this time around, which from what I hear, there will be makeup blood. I can accept a PG-13 film.

Even though by all rights this film should rated R and we need to hear these bad asses cussing and swearing!
