This is excellent. I wasn't expecting something like this so early.

It's several kinds of awesome that we're getting Cold, Heatwave, Reverse Flash, quite a few other villains, and probably Grodd all in season 1. as well as an Arrow/Flash crossover and some villain teamup episodes, this show is definitely making full use of its source material.

I very much doubt Grodd will be a season one villain. He seems more like a "big bad" for a later season.

I LOVE how the show isn't treading water and is just straight getting to the good stuff right away. It seems like these days this is the general attitude of DC Entertainment in general, this "go for broke" mentality and I love that.

Probably just a one episode appearance to test the waters. JL and JLU had Grodd as a one episode villain until making him a Big Bad later on. Also, Arrow had already introduced Slade in Season One before making him the big bad in Season Two.

It says not found when I click on it.

That's awesome! This show is really kicking butt!

the Captain Cold stuff we've seen so far is absolutely perfect...

Heat Wave looks perfect too, i'm loving the costumes for everyone we've seen so far.

'The Flash' Premiere Becomes the CW's Most Watched Telecast Ever in Live + 7 Ratings

October 27, 2014 (Burbank, CA) — The series premiere of THE FLASH rises to 6.8 million total viewers, becoming The CW's most watched telecast of any series in the history of the network, in final Live + 7 Day Nielsen ratings data. THE FLASH premiere is also the highest-rated telecast among Men 18-49 (3.2) ever on the network.
THE FLASH is The CW’s highest-rated series debut ever in Men 18-34 (2.5), and the second highest-rated series premiere in Adults 18-49 (2.6).
The debut episode of THE FLASH rose +41% in total viewers in Live + 7 compared to the Live + Same Day total, and jumped +37% in Adults 18-34 and +39% in Adults 18-49.
THE FLASH premiere has been seen more than 13 million times across all platforms, including initiated streams on digital platforms and total unduplicated viewers on-air over two airings the week of Oct. 7.
THE FLASH is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Everwood"), Andrew Kreisberg ("Arrow," "Eli Stone"), David Nutter ("Arrow," "Game of Thrones") and Sarah Schechter. This series is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment.

13 million people seeing the premiere is incredible, even if the L+7 numbers don't mean a whole lot in the long run (DVR viewers usually skip commercials, and the commercial viewership determines how much advertisers are willing to pay to sponsor the show). It at least means they're doing well on Hulu/Amazon/Play/iTunes/OnDemand, so they should get some revenue there.

This also bodes quite well for future DVD/Blu Ray/Netflix numbers.

I'm seeing a common complaint pop up about the Flash and to a lesser extent Arrow. People don't want so innovation added to the 'freak/villain of the week' formula. Arrow and Flash have overarching seasonal plots, but fans still seem to think it's not enough.

My suggestion; what if the writers adopted an approach similar to JL:TAS where episodes were written in twos and threes instead of one at a time. Every 2-3 episodes would be a self contained mini arch along with the seasonal arch tying everything together. Thoughts?

'Captain Cold' Profiled In New Clip From THE FLASH Season 1, Episode 4; "Going Rogue"

Sounds good. But, I think TV executives/producers are notoriously wary about including strong/connecting story-arcs unless the series fully commits to season-long, detailed story-arcs. This is because they want people to be able to tune in from week to week and still follow and enjoy the story without becoming disgruntled because they haven't kept up to date with the story developments. A "hint" of a season-long arc, similar to what they do on Arrow, Doctor Who and other TV shows seems to be the preferable approach to going "all in" like Game of Thrones.

But, I do think two-parters and trilogies have the potential to work. As long as each episode tells a strong story, it doesn't matter if they happen to have the same villain or antagonist across all of the episodes. I know that most people won't appreciate the comparison, but earlier in its run, Xena: Warrior Princess did a few two-parters and trilogies (e.g. Greater Good/Callisto, Destiny/The Quest/A Necessary Evil) which while thematically part of a broader story, were still able to be watched and appreciated individually. I don't see why something similar can't be done in The Flash.

I finally caught up with the show. I have quibbles, some things I for sure would change (for me perhaps the biggest problem is Patton as Iris and the Eddie/Iris thing, along with the Flash "Pit Crew" concept. I don't think they understand how superficial and uninteresting Iris is as they've done her, and I really am not sure that outside of the Wells character, that the other two scientist characters are really needed, or add much really) but other than that, I am kind of stunned at the show's willingness to kind of go as whole hog on the super hero stuff as they have so far and the castiing of Martin, Gustin and Shipp is just spot on. They've made a great central character with Gustin's Barry, which easily could have come off as too Gary Stu. He's even proven to be able to bring some deep emotion to the part. With so many shows, I will now have to work this into the schedule somehow.

FINALLY saw ep 3 lastnight. I CAN"T WAIT for Firestorm!!!!
