Wells is not Reverse Flash. He's a wholly original character, as per the producers.

Yes because if he was indeed the Reverse Flash they would just go out there and expose their series trump card to the entire world right off the bat?

You don't state that Wells is a WHOLLY ORIGINAL character with no comics counterpart if you're trying to obfuscate.

Yes you do. That's kinda the point of misdirection in the first place.

It's like when everybody knew that one dude was playing New Trek Khan but the producers kept harping on about "no no he's a completely original character" until voila the movie reveals that he was Khan after all.

Zoom looks pretty good.

As far as Firestorm having lousy villains...who says he can't fight other DC Universe villains, like Green Arrow and The Flash? Or even original villains?

I suspect though, that other than SUPERGIRL and TITANS, there will be a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle series before too long. Warner Brothers has wanted that one for a while.

Stating point-blank that Wells is a completely original character isn't 'misdirection'. It's being about as straightforward as you can possibly be without giving anything away about his ultimate story purpose.

BTW, the Kahn thing was straight-up lying and everyone knew it, so it's not a good example.

Believe what you want dude. After all Ben Kingsley was indeed The Mandarin and Liam Neeson was not Ra's Al Ghul.

I'm not naive enough to take producers words as the gospel especially when the piece of media is still fresh on the block and establishing itself. Anything could happen in the long run.

I believe they want to include Booster in this show at some point last I read.

In the Mandarin and Ra's al Ghul situations, the producers never flat-out said, of their own volition, mind you, that those characters weren't who they appeared to be at first glance.

With this Wells thing, Geoff Johns flat-out said that Wells is a completely original character, and he said it without any hesitation or attempts to play coy.

Haha, yeah. Talk about the worst kept secret in the universe. It's like they didn't even TRY to conceal it; they even gave him the most generic sounding name they could come up with so you KNEW he was someone else. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise face off against the diabolical... JOHN HARRISON? Yeah.

I am fairly certain that Flash will travel to the future at some point. One of the heroes I expect to see in that future would be Booster Gold.

Producers have no God given right to tell the truth when it comes to their TV shows if it'll benefit them (the show) by lying. (think that makes sense).

If everyone from the word go knows Thawne is Zoom, it's a matter of 'when' not 'if' the viewers see it. If say in a future episode it's revealed that Wells is Zoom there will be surprise, people will talk about the show, and after all that's what the producers and everyone involved with the show want - publicity.

Unless you're J.J. Abrams, you're going to lose an incredible amount of credibility if you're caught in a flat-out lie.

Why? No one cares if the end product is good. If it's good no one is going to say; "Screw you! This was rubbish because YOU LIED TO US! IT'S NOT WHO WE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE!" If it's good people will say; "OK, so it was him. Cool twist, it worked. Kudos."

I like it. I like the "shoulder pads".

Not really, considering this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. Hell, they even had a flash of yellow lightning on the screen after Well's whole sinister I'm from the future and know Barry will die in 2024 shtick.

He was asked if Miranda Tate was Talia Al Ghul and said that Tate was an original character.

"Yes she's Talia Al Ghul, but Bruce doesn't know, it's a surprise, but now you know, so that plot twist to tie the first and final films together is just given knowledge."

Again, producers/writers/actors (in my view) have every right to lie if it means protecting and ensuring the quality of the end product. I'm not going to lose my temper for being lied to if the show/film is improved because of the lie. If I saw a film called "Attack of the Space Gerbils" which was advertised as having space gerbils in, and the cast and crew told me it had space gerbils in, but instead it had underwater goats in and no space gerbils, then I'd be angry for being lied to! I mean, who wants to see underwater goats?!

Hollywood people lie 2 protect spoilers all of the time. That is no secret

I never said Hollywood people didn't lie, or that there aren't decent creative reasons for doing so.

I said that Nolan flat-out lied. For pretty much the same reasons JJ Abrams did.

The shoulder pads and sleeves are funky, but otherwise pretty good.

In Abrams' case though, (IMO) it was just needless to do so with the way they wrote the story because Khan didn't have any meaning to the central characters. At least when Nolan did it, it served the plot; Talia assumed a new identity to infiltrate Bruce's company and get revenge on him for killing her father. The big Khan "reveal" was stupid.
