That idea brought back some bad Smallville memories,

If Barry reveals his ID to Iris I would not want them to undo it like Smallville did with Lana, I want the show to continually move forward rather than going backward.

Rather than have Barry
reveal his identity and cause Iris' death, I'd prefer she die as a result of his not telling her, at which point he makes the choice to reveal himself.

Hello,

I'm a few weeks behind on The Flash and Arrow but I've noticed that Arrow is a episode ahead of The Flash. Also, The Flash will have it's season finale a week after Arrow's.

I was wondering if anybody knows should I stick with matching the episodes (1x14/3x14, 1x15,3x15, etc.) or if it matters?

It isn't a big deal but I enjoy watching them in the correct order and I read that Felicity and Ray Palmer will appear in an upcoming episode of The Flash so I was wondering if anybody knows (without revealing spoliers ;)) if this s affected by the The Flash being an episode behind.

Cheers

Watch them as they air. They accounted for this. :)

That would actually be one of the best subversions they could do of the classic formula for Superhero films and shows. Not to mention it sounds so much better than the way they had to crowbar in Laurel figuring out Ollie's secret.

But how about this?
Iris, in the original timeline, uncovers who Barry is through investigative journalism, and the resulting conflict ends up getting her killed. Then, when Barry is faced with trying to cover it up and encouraged to do so, he decides to come clean, and when he does, that changes the outcome because she investigates the bad guy who causes the havoc in the first timeline.

So would you guys say that Season 1 is on par, if not shaping out to be potentially better than Arrow's acclaimed Season 2?

I'd rather not compare the two. They're two very different shows despite being based in the same universe.

I'd actually argue they're on track to be about on par right now, but as the other guy said, they're not that easy to compare. I think arrow having a previous season in which to establish major relationships for Season 2 gives some of it's moments bigger impact (especially Ollie vs Slade or Moira just as a character the audience identifies with in spite of her flaws), and I think Arrow had some better mini arcs leading up to it's seasonal plot's emergence, especially the initial Canary arc and the Amazo vs Island crew in the second half.

On the other hand, I think Flash has fewer evident weaknesses, and the strengths of the Rogues are quickly matching the best of the suicide Squad episodes. People complain about Iris, but since she's at worst in the same developmental stage as Laurel in Season One of Arrow, and at best consistently portrayed as a competent action survivor, nobody's raising as much hell as they did with Laurel in Season Two. And let's be honest, all the Rogues seen thus far seem to be shaping up into fun and challenging nemeses for our hero, while clearly being more comic-booky and still being believably dangerous.

Definitely on Par. I've seen a lot of complaining about soap opera elements, but does anyone remember how much time was spent on soap opera in S2?

Depends how the rest of the season goes. Arrow's season 2 was fantastic and I'd say better than this...until the last three or so episodes when everything fell apart. And because the resolution failed, it reflect poorly on the whole season. If this season can resolve things well, maybe it could be on par or better. Certainly leagues above Arrow season 1 though.

I'd agree with this. S2 was playing off some great build up. But Flash definitely has less glaring weaknesses for me. The biggest being the Laurel/Iris comparison. Is Iris being handled very well? No, but it's definitely not as bad as Laurel was in S2. And nowhere near the train wreck that is Barbra on Gotham.

I'm not a big fan of Arrow, and I really don't like Gotham at all.

But I love The Flash.

Yes, and it's absolutely trumping Season 3 of Arrow in just about every way possible, which is really unfortunate.

I would compare Flash season one so far and Arrow season two by saying that they are both pretty equal, but have different strengths and weaknesses. On one hand, Arrow sometimes felt too much like a soap opera, a trap Flash has mostly avoided, and it also had two poorly written and annoying characters with Thea and Laurel. Flash does;t have any characters that are flat annoying, just a few that don't completely work. On the other hand, Arrow had a protagonist who was more involved in the overarching story arc. Barry has spent very little time this season actually trying to actively track down Zoom and solve is mothers murder. In fact, the only characters who are consistently pushing the main plot forward are Wells and Joe. I think Barry needs to take a more proactive role in the Season long arc. Ultimately, I prefer Flash, as it fits my tastes better, but Arrow Season Two is still great. It should be note that Arrow Season Two fell apart near the end, and Slade's motivation for hating Oliver was flimsy, as was his endgame. We'll see if Flash will succeed and giving Wells a satisfying motivation.

I bet those are just some random bank robbers or something. Man, I love this show. This season has felt like a 23 hour Superhero movie.
