As long as it's nothing like the X-Box controller. I hate that one.
I don't want a design change either. I think it's perfect as it is.

I love the XBox controller for free roam games, just really crap for beat'em ups or games where you need the d-pad. It's a really comfortable controller to hold. I think the dualshock can be improved after all this time without changing the dimensions of everything (in case that's what you're worried about). THe biometric stuff could be cool.

I've pretty much been an PS3 exclusive gamer these past few years, despite growing up as a Nintendo fanboy. Personally, I have no issues with the controller, and loved it after I switched from the Wii motion controls.

Having never played a game on X-Box before, I don't know the difference there, but I would hate to see them try to copy the WiiU tablet controller. I'm sure they'll offer some "classic" alternative, but I don't think they really need to change much.

It doesn't feel comfortable in my hands, that's my problem with that. It's unfortunate for me that most of my friends have an X-Box and I have to play with their controller.
I fear that the same can happen with the next Playstation controller.

IMHO the xbix controller is perfect now, more so that they have the spinning d-pad. The PS3 controller is a joke for FPS games.. IMHO. I always felt the buttons were just too close together.

I always liked the Xbox controller more too for Shooting and adventure games, but I like the PS3 controller more for fighting and driving games.

I think the Gamecube controller was the best. The only thing that sucked was the tiny digi pad.

Gamecube? Man I thought that was one of the worst controllers ever designed. Nintedo lost me with the N64 and each gen has been a disapointment on the controller front until the WiiU. I hated the placement of the buttons on the GC and the analog sticks sucked

I love the PS design for the DS. Its what ive been using for nearly 15 years now and I have no major issues with it at all

If anything i see it keeping the same form, but with a slightly elongated center and the PS, select and start buttons moved to the top to accomodate a screen in the center. Id imagine the placement of all the buttons and stick remain relatively the same but shifted a bit to make room for the screen. I see it being added as a supplement to gaming, like maps, options, but not a second screen experience as seen with the WiiU or Vita. People need to stop freaking out (not this board but its gotten quite a bit of reaction over the last few days). i dont believe a change will be as drastic as one might expect

The gamecube controller? Really? Like Havok said, it's a terrible controller. Nintendo kept trying too hard to be unique and the controllers were too bizarrely shaped.

I just remember I had a fantastic experience with it when I played Timesplitters on the Cube.

I dreaded that thing. I purchased MGS TTS, RE0 and RE Remake bc they were GC exclusives and didnt find it to be a good experience. MGS and the RE series worked so much better with the PS2 controller. I had a tough time adjusting for those games

I always preferred the Dual Shock for almost everything, it really comes down to what you get use to for the most part. I use my Dual Shock for almost everything, no matter the genre. But it will be interesting to see the new design.

All i know, is that i see more 3rd party PS3 pads shaped like the 360s controller than i do 360 controllers shaped like the PS3s pad. I have a feeling the DS4 or whatever its gonna be called will be designed in a shape thats closer to the 360's pad compared to the DS3.

That's because there is more 360's sold in America. In other parts the world that is not as much of the case, it's just what people get used to.

I hate when I go to a 360 controller, but then when I'm using it for a few weeks I get used to it and hate when I switch back to the Dual Shock, and the cycle continues for me. There are some controllers that flat out suck, the original X-Box controller comes to mind, I never had a problem with the Gamecube, but I did at times with the N64. And I still curse the corners of the NES controller, I still have indentations from that damn thing lol.

I'm not against a change per say, but I still prefer the button layout and button style of the DS. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I never had a huge problem getting used to controles for systems. I actually liked the first Xbox controller because it fits my big hands comfortably. I didn't like the GC controller but I never had a huge problem getting used to the controls.

Different strokes, I guess.

Interesting, I too have big hands, and I just felt right with the GC controller, but I had tons of friends that hated it, so I know I may be in a minority with that.

I think that MS and Sony made good controllers, the DS still works, and the 360's controller is great as well, it really does just come down to what you get used to. I had a good friend that was mainly playing COD on 360, his bro bought him a PS3 a few years back, he complained for a month about it, but now he says he likes it just as much. I'm the same way, it just takes time getting used to it.

Hell during the Holidays I was playing with my sister in laws little bro on his 360, he was showing me Halo 4, and man oh man I sucked, I had just not picked up a 360 controller in over 8 months so I looked real bad playing online that night. But I usually just get used to one or the other, then there is no worries.

I like the DS controller, but I think the analog sticks could be a little shorter.

Good riddance to the Dual Shock. I've never liked it. Since the PS1, that controller was always something I tolerated rather than enjoyed it.

I'd be pretty disappointed. The Dualshock is one of my favorite controllers, I really hope that they aren't casting it aside to try to capitalize on the latest gimmick. The only thing they need to do is make R2 and L2 into little triggers.
