HR’s action segments are primarily composed of QTE. Like you will never have the freedom to hold and aim a gun, drive a car or engage in freeform combat. That was a turnoff to some people but it didn’t bother me. The story was engaging enough and the interactions with other characters, exploration and choices you can make were the main draw. Thanks man. Ive got a friend thats gonna let me borrow LBP2 and im just waitin for the last of us to come down in price. Also im definitely gonna pick up ratchet and clank and at least try the second killzone and if i like it ill get the third. The first resistance was great, i remember playing the whole thing with a friend way back when it first came out. Does heavy rain have regular gameplay or is it just mostly quick time events?
If you get into Ratchet, start with Tools of Destruction. It ends on a cliffhanger which sets the stage for the next title, Crack in Time. There was a PSN title called Quest for Booty released in between them which bridged the gap between both games.
Most of what I list have demos so be sure to check them out if you are unsure.
ETA:
I forgot to mention but last year Sony started releasing PS3 Collections which compile the games released in a series for the PS3. Here are some of the ones you may want to pick up
