The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

I really thought Henry Cavill could have given us a great second act as Superman, but am grateful for the hard reboot. I didn’t think anyone could be as visually perfect for the role except… Holy frijoles, here’s Wolfgang Novogratz with a bajillion watt smile. Google image him - he’s the perfect “really sweet” version of Clark. 25 years old and something like 6’2”? Doesn’t hurt he’s super connected via his family, lol.

We all know what this thread is truly about...

Who fancasts the actor the studio picks to rub it in everyone else's ****ing faces!

Gillian Anderson is my sexy Brainiac, although not as likely a name.

Debicki would be good too, but kinda close to her Guardians role.

Would it be strange for Brainiac to take on different forms? I kinda love all of these castings

For Ma Kent I like Jamie Lee Curtis or Elizabeth Shue.

She came to mind when I thought of Will Patton for Jonathan. They had a good thing going in the Halloween sequels.

Ooooh, I really like Pullman for Jonathan. Never thought of that one before.

I also liked Bradley Whitford for Jonathan Kent.

Where I’m at right now…

Superman - Unknown
Lois Lane - Olivia Cooke
Lex Luthor - Gustaf Skarsgard
Perry White - Bob Odenkirk
Jimmy Olsen - Justice Smith
Adding in:

Jonathan Kent - Will Patton
Filling out a bit of the Daily Planet bullpen…

Steve Lombard - Anders Holm
Ron Troupe - Malcolm Barrett

With Troupe as the straight man to Lombard’s comic relief.

lol Anders Holm; that could be fun. He was in everything for a minute but haven’t seen him much since.

I still like Kate McKinnon for Cat Grant.

I don’t know if could see him as a farmer. I just know him from Billy Madison, West Wing, and Handsmaid’s Tale and in all those he just sees a little too snarky / cocky to pull off nice Pa Kent. And I love Whitford.

I’d take him as Emil Hamilton. Or maybe an older Toyman. Could be cool to see him as an older villain treated like Trickster in the DCAU where’s he’s diagnosed with a mental illness. Superman, like Flash in the episode, will handle the situation without violence—only to have the Elite execute him later which forces Superman into conflict with them.

In my mind, I see Kurt Russell,
Dennis Quaid,
Or Bruce Greenwood as Jonathan.
