The HellBoy II: Golden Army Box Office Predictions

Movie made less than Hancock on Monday, only 3.7 million, IMO this isnt looking good.

As long it's in the top 10, or even top 3, it's okay. It's looking fine to me, don't worry about it.

Damn, Hellboy needs to start pulling in the green, especially before Friday hits because there will only be a select few going to see any movie besides TDK.

It's not looking good. The movie dropped 14.2% to 3.188mil Tuesday. Still behind Hancock BTW.

Yeah i saw that, should get to about $50 million by the weekend, then it needs to make $35 million more to make its budget back domestically, this will be difficult with TDK out, other movies will stick make money, but how much is another question.

Its usually the domestic take which dictates a sequel though isnt it.

No, not not at all. Most movies don't make a profit based on domestic gross.

DVD money is where most of profits come from.

And it being behind Hancock (which is on about six hundred more screens) hardly means it's "not looking good."

Making over $3 million per day on weekdays is actually looking pretty good.

I know that if my characters get made into motion pictures I'll be happy if I receive as much money as these superhero movies do.

I hope alot people try to go see TDK this weekend and its sold out and they will have to see HB2 then...yeah

Dude, you do know that not everyone will see it this weekend, and it'll still have a bunch of people going to see it more than once, right? Hellboy will make a good amount of money, and so will TDK.

Well, i'm not really an expert on this stuff so i'll take your word for it, hope you are right as well, i want to see HB3 sometime down the line.

Wednesday numbers: (according to showbiz data)

2. HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY UNIVERSAL 3,204 2,674,335 835 n/a 44,129,000

Thats about a 16% drop from Tuesday.

Edit: Boxoffice mojo has there numbers up now and they are the same.

Actually it wasn't looking good yesterday and it's looking even worse now. It's dropping huge and couple that with the fact that it dropped big on saturday and TDK is coming out. It's headed for atleast a 60% drop right now unless it stablizes and goes up alot on friday. That could happen but I'm not betting on it.

The movie is doing fine and yes will be killed by TDK, but will do very well with DVD sales. It will make a good amount of money and lets all hope that we get Hellboy 3 before Ron Pearlman is too old.

Not saying that it's bombing because it obviously isn't but these weekday numbers aren't good. I wouldn't be surprised if it got a sequel, these aren't uber expensive movies.

Just like Hulk this movie is extremely frontloaded. This is headed to 65% drop this weekend.

Funny how all Universal flicks so far have had a 60% drop or worse including WANTED. But that movie already has made back its budget and headed to 145 million domestically and overseas it is going to do $200+ million.

^Hey, you are right about the Universal thing! I didn't think of that.

Again, it's not dropping off anymore than was to be expected...it's looking fine.

Of course it's dropping off each day...that's what movies do; it'll most likely drop more than 50% this weekend too, which again is not that bad, because most movies do that.

People seem to have no clue how box office works.

Actually I do know how the boxoffice works. It's dropping huge and not doing fine but then again it's not a disaster either. And yes most movie's drop over 50% but this is looking like a much harsher drop than that. If it isn't then i'm wrong but thats what I'm predicting right now.

It's dropping "huge" if you consider what about...7 out of 10 movies (and that's probably a conservative estimate) drop to be huge.

It's right in line with what was to be expected, and so far it's doing better than fine.

Anytime a movie is at number 1 or number 2, it's doing something right.

^I hope so, i see the numbers going down by quite a lot daily and it it still has $40 million to go to make its budget back domestically.

It only opened to 34.5mil, it can't afford to drop the way a movie that opened with 50mil and over can. I said this on every boxoffice thread I've been on, I'm not going to sugar coat the numbers to make anyone feel better. As I said the movie is going to make more than the first one and isn't a disaster because it wasn't a 150 or 200 million dollar picture but it's still dropping quite harshly. I calls it as I sees it. I allways fairly judge the boxoffice numbers and I will continue to do so.

Are the totals out for HB2's first week? If I am adding correctly, I think it beat HANCOCK for the week, even though HANCOCK was #1 for 5 of the 7 days! DARK KNIGHT is going to kick every ones butt, I hope HB can hold on for a few more weeks.

It's very annoying that many UK cinema's are only haveing two showings a day for Hellboy 2
